YOU BLOOODDYYY BEEAUUUUTTTTYYYY
Not a great match but we came from 6 goals down and ended up with a very strong win. 8 points really doesnt give justice to the Power who totally controlled 2 1/2 quarters of the match.
WELL DONE BOYS - GREAT COMEBACK.
Was the first time the one south australian side has beaten the other twice in one season. Now 3 in a row against the crows and we are gaining ascendency over them!!
Adelaide completly dominated the first quarter and about 5 minutes of the second quarter before Port took over. Altho Adelaide were in control and had 80% of the ball...they could only get a 6 goal lead up before the Power took ascendency of the match. Primus was put forward and kicked 3 second quarter goals while Brogan dominated the ruck.
As soon as Port hit the lead they were never going to give it up and they never did...even when the crows came back in the last quarter their was no real worry about it.
The umpiring...well it seems to get unbelivably worse every week.
The crows had the favour of the umpires all day.
The most pathetic decisions...some which were just amusing in how ridiculous they were.
First quarter Kingsley gets tackled by Mcleod behind the boundary line after the ball went out and its called holding the ball
. Thank god the umpire was consistent enough to pay a similar free to Monty (i think) against Matthew Clarke.
In the second quarter Ian Perrie took a mark which went about 5 foot let alone 10 metres, and the mark was paid. Then im not too sure what happened, but he instantly got a 50m penalty for who knows...could ofbeen anything really. THE softest 50m penalty ever paid.
Last quarter Jarman ducks his head and gets a free for it right in front of goal. Not only that, Welsh connects Wanganeen with an albow to the head and not even a bloody free kick!
The only dodgy free kick that went towards the Powers favour was Cocakatoo COllins not being paid deliberate for an obvious deliberate out of bounds.
Enough about the white fukwits and onto the game.
The crows didnt have one real standout player i thought. If i was to pick a best player for the crows i wouldnt be able to say as a number of players equally contributed to the sides 'efforts'. Riccuito had the most touches but had no real effect on the game. Edwards had a number of touches but had no massive effect either. James Gallagher played ok. Smart was busy in the first quarter goalspree as was Johnson, but was about all.
Jarman had no effect on teh game and only got his goal thru a very soft free kick 5m out. Vardy kicked goal of the day but didnt get a touch after that basically. Stevens was thumped by Tredrea who was probably BOG, Mcleod had no great effect on the game either.
Onto Ports best players...they had a number of standouts compared to a team effort. Primus, Tredrea, Cornes, Stevensm Francou and Paxman were the best.
Primus won the ruck all day and also kicked 3 goals in ports second quarter come back. Another amazing effort from the best ruckman in the league. Tredrea had 23 touches and took 10 marks in a strong display, and was probably best on ground. Cornes didnt have a lot of the ball but did the important stuff and took some telling marks and goals at just the right time. Stevens showed again why he is fast becoming one of the best midfielders in teh league with 23 hurting disposals. Francou the same, had a lot of the ball and used it well. Paxman took Jarman out of the game perfectly.
Crows got away to a huge start but mainly due to Port playing the worst they had played all year up to that point. 3 smothers resulted in 3 goals to the Crows and 2 free kicks gave them 2 goals also. Port stayed in touch and struck them hard in the second quarter. The third was all port who kicked 4 goals to nil against the breeze. The last quarter was fairly even with port kicking away early and doing enough to run out the rest of the game.
Not only that, Welsh can look forward to a small break due to the tribunal...that is if they are gonna be consistnent. Welsh connected Wnaganeen with a very crude raised elbow to the face in the last quarter....and after Burgoynes suspension last week you would think he would be reported and suspended for it
A great win to the Power who have shown again that they really are a contender for this years premiership.
The crows...well it looks to be mothballs to them...and the crows supporters...well werent they cocky in the first quarter and a bit...they even threw out that great old line "How many premierships have you won"
Well ill tell you this...we dont have any premierships...but it took Adelaide 7 years to make 2 finals series....we are gonna do it in our 5th season.
With the Power having all winable games from here on in, we are a strong chance to finish top 2 and even top spot with Essendon looking a bit shaky recently.
GO THE POWER!!!!
