So much this.Johnson had a great last quarter and was average to poor for the rest of the game. Don't let those 3 goals cloud your judgment.

Yep, we are already preparing him as a westhoff clone. Worrying times indeedBad

Long term hell no don't westhoff him please
Short
No issues , his tank is his biggest hurdle currently anything we can do to fast track it is good
I seem to recall that when we drafted him the ability to read a game was supposed to be one of his strong points.Johnson can't read the game well but can hide it because he can often can catch up those few seconds wasted catching the play with his pure pace, it's the better prob problem to have over the reverse
Good to see Frampton named as best here. Double surprise for me regarding him (first was us re-signing him recently). I had him as down for delisting but glad to be proved wrong.
Will wait for the 2018 pre-season and see if he's 'up' as he was in 2016.Frampton to come in next year as a 2nd ruck & forward pocket changing with Ryder.
Because Port want another SANFL premiership. While Crows use SANFL as a development team. Hence we have no supporters as most of us already support an SANFL club wanting to win a SANFL flag. I agree though that the reserves sides are meant as a development side. Thats why they shouldnt be in the SANFL and should go to VFL or for the AFL to bloody put their hands in their pockets and create a national reserves comp.Yeah no s**t, why is Young in the midfield when he plays forward in the firsts? Isn't the purpose of one club so we can use the ressies to prepare for the Power? Amateur hour.
Wrong.Because Port want another SANFL premiership. While Crows use SANFL as a development team.
Good god, we are 2nd with the 2nd best percentage playing kids, do you really want us to be kicked out for being far and away in 1st? Or do you want us to scrape into finals in 2nd and win the flag instead?Wrong.
The reason Young plays in the midfield is because if he doesn't the team becomes less competitive and we sacrifice the development of the entire team because we wanted to put one player in his 'AFL' spot.
Young playing midfield, gets his confidence and form up, it allows our defence to not just be bombarded with continual lost clearances, it allows our young and excessively tall forward line the chance to get their hands on the ball from quick entries. It also gives our extremely young midfield in Atley, Drew & Hewett the support they need.
If we were playing purely to win a flag, we'd be 'faking' an injury to Ladhams weekly when we are forced to drop Summerton. We'd probably also chuck in another couple injuries to get Sharrad, Rudloff, T Gray & Reynolds into the seniors.
We also wouldn't have had AhChee playing so much of the season in the fwd half at SANFL level when he clearly impacts games much more as a mid. We also wouldn't have had Marshall having a crack on the wing last week. A kid like Snelling whose now on the outer also probably would've been dropped allowing us to bring in Sharrad.
Port use the Magpies solely as a developing engine for our players. We are just smart enough to also realise that remaining competitive gives our guys the best chance to develop asap.
This is the best Port's list has ever looked for the short and long term. Good quality high draft pick inside mids in Atley & Drew (Atley being a combo of Boak/M Crouch), good half backs in Bonner & Irra, Good key back kids in Lienert & Austin, good key fwd prospects in Marshall, Howard and a couple good ruck prospects in Frampton, Ladhams. Our only weaknesses are the outside mids where Amon is questionable and the small forwards where Johnson is still questionable.
The fact our depth is so incredibly good at the moment is the reason we are performing, not because we are forgoing development.
He'll ask for a trade and will be moving back to victoria for nothing to help Western Bulldogs probably.what actually happens with Lobbe next year? He was okay in this match but Frampton has stormed passed him and Ladhams is closing in too. Yet he is still contracted for next year.
So you agree with me, we are prioritizing development, which is all that I said.Good god, we are 2nd with the 2nd best percentage playing kids, do you really want us to be kicked out for being far and away in 1st? Or do you want us to scrape into finals in 2nd and win the flag instead?
We are balancing development and success. Prioritizing development would mean we are 7-10th and not 2nd.So you agree with me, we are prioritizing development, which is all that I said.
Which is what I pretty much said. While the crows fan i was responding to just said were all about winning in the SANFL which is wrong. We are balancing development and success. Prioritizing development would mean we are 7-10th and not 2nd.
But it is not solely about development, building a winning culture is also important.Which is what I pretty much said. While the crows fan i was responding to just said were all about winning in the SANFL which is wrong.
Classic..Not sure why he would have been. Has taken a week off every 2 weeks.
It's the long torso and short legs.I only saw the game on tv, but I am a little sceptical that Marshall is his listed height of 198 cm, he looked a few cms shy of that to me.
what actually happens with Lobbe next year? He was okay in this match but Frampton has stormed passed him and Ladhams is closing in too. Yet he is still contracted for next year.
Why does the grassroots brigade solution to a compromised sanful always involve a bigger compromise to the vfl. Classic NIMBYism - it's ok to * around with grassrootsfooty as long as it's not OUR grassrootsfooty.Thats why they shouldnt be in the SANFL and should go to VFL or for the AFL to bloody put their hands in their pockets and create a national reserves comp.
I love how the 'grassroots' brigade as you term them are so concerned about a compromised competition. As if they are the number 1 priority for footy in this state. Why does the grassroots brigade solution to a compromised sanful always involve a bigger compromise to the vfl. Classic NIMBYism - it's ok to **** around with grassrootsfooty as long as it's not OUR grassrootsfooty.
I don't think the crows approach to their reserves is helping their development much. Every top-up player for the crows looks seriously out of their depth at sanfl level. The afl listed players have to spend half the game compensating for the inadequacies of bush league players who can't hit a target 30 metres away under no pressure. I suspect the crows want out of the sanfl so they can cherry pick the best of the sanfl players to play in a competition unencumbered with so many petty rules about who can and can't play for them.
