The problem is when that's the only thing you do. As mentioned above, DBJ gets the ball and kicks goals too.

He was our third leading goalscorer in 2025 with 19
He was our third leading goalscorer 2024 with 28

If you can't work out the difference between DBJ and McEntee, maybe football isn't right for you.
Yeah i've got no idea what i'm talking about. Good on ya

My 2 cents on the trial.

Ball movement overall a bit slow. Kicking across ground at the back slowed us down further and allowed the opposition to flood back and choke our forward line. In previous years, opposition teams used to anticipate this, and I cringed every time Boak kicked across ground and the ball was intercepted.

Jase Burgoyne’s best position is half back flank.

Whitlock has potential, will suffer burn out if used as a back up ruck.

McAndrew showing us up in the ruck spells trouble.

We continue to play too far off our opposition player, especially in the back line. I think we overestimate our ability to sag off and cover space thinking we can get to the contest when the ball comes in.

I didn't see the trial against the Cows, only the highlights, and I watched the Internal Trial. I appreciate the 2 cents.

There are two things that I am concerned about. The first is the slow ball movement into the forward line as you've stated. The second is the Hornet's foot. Butters will generally be tagged into oblivion and without the Hornet in there, the rest of the matchups will be smashed.

We have a fairly solid midfield, and if JHF is restricted in game time, Rozee will have to be the answer, as I don’t think Bergman is quite up there, yet. It’s more our ruck strength that bothers me. And the wings.

I've generally related our team this year to the form of 2024 and considered 2025 an aberration and while 2025 was indeed a farce, I am lowering the expectations I had on 2024 based on the midfield.

2024 - AA Rozee, AA Butters, up and coming Hornet, Wines, Drew
2026 - AA Butters, possibly footless Hornet, great potential of Bergman but yet to deliver consistently, Wines, Drew

You can throw Rozee back in there but it would mean we lose the QB in defence and we looked terrible until he went back there last year.

If the Hornet is fully fit and Bergman takes the step up, we are good to go.

I eagerly await to see what the coaches have in store for us.

I didn't realize how much we were experimenting until I watched the replay. We were playing Joe Richards and Logan Evans as starting mids with Brodie and Drew and we were still winning clearances. Sure when the crows went forward they took easy marks but there was no pressure on the ball carriers. I think we probably had majority of the ball. Gonna reserve my thoughts until I watch how we play round 1

Sorry for the late post, just wanted to share a few photos I took while I was in Adelaide catching up with family and friends. Managed to get along to the trial game as well, great to be back at Alberton after a few years.
