Hawthorn are a fake top 2 team. They have been favoured by their easy draw.
Against 2024 Bottom 10 sides they are 6-0 and now will be 2-2 against 2024 Top 8 sides.

Btw how bad is the 12 round season:
We've played
12th, 1st, 18th, 2nd, 6th, 5th, 13th, 11th, 4th, 3rd, with 15th and 7th to come.
So we got to play ALL of the top 7 in our 12 games, and only 5 of the bottom 11 sides.
Not bitching as I think its an opportunity, you need to be able to beat the best, but it does put the season in to perspective when considering the future. We've had the worst umpiring and the worst draw of any side yet still sit mid-table.
We made the preliminary last year so it was always going to be a hard draw.Btw how bad is the 12 round season:

Yep and I think you have to embrace that as a chance to hone against the top sides, but playing all top 7 teams with 12 games is really quite crazy. We made the preliminary last year so it was always going to be a hard draw.
The FK differential is quite flawed though - from my knowledge there are two games that umpires have cost us, and none where they have got us across the line. That's what really counts. Whether we win or lose the FK count in games decided by 10 goals don't really matter.Hard to get any sort of fair draw when you have 18 teams playing 12 rounds.
I personally don’t take a lot of notice in the AFFLW but just looking at the numbers I’d say we’d have a + number on the free kick count this year or very close to it.
This is what last season was like for a lot of teams that just missed the 8.Btw how bad is the 12 round season:

Yeah its a real problem with the competition as a whole. The difference between two home finals and a double chance, and straight in to a knockout could easily be based on which teams you match up with. Not many serious competitions around the world wouldn't have each club play each other at least once. Not sure the best way to solve it but it should really be a 17 round season, not 12.This is what last season was like for a lot of teams that just missed the 8.
Out of the teams that made the 8, we had one of the harder draws playing the most fellow finalists, but teams like Melbourne that just missed out played many more finalists than us.
Then you had teams like Hawthorn that played bugger top 8 sides last year and this.
I’ve thought from day one the 12 rounds is a ridiculous idea.Yeah its a real problem with the competition as a whole. All comes down to how much AFL is willing to cover the costs.I’ve thought from day one the 12 rounds is a ridiculous idea.
It has to be you play each side once.
Well there’s my answer why it will never happen. All comes down to how much AFL is willing to cover the costs.
AFLW already losing $50M per season with 12 rounds.

How though, that doesn't add up to me.All comes down to how much AFL is willing to cover the costs.

The bright side is that next season we will have 3 ‘recruits’ in Julia Teakle, Piper Window and Caitlin Wendland, as well as a fully match-fit Lauren Young. What a waste of a season, pathetic umpiring and programming costing us a finals place.

Really should be doing better than we are.
Beating Melb and Hawthorn has been very good. Really taking advantage of the home ground. If you look at our fixture, our games so far have been against 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 10th, 11th, 13th and 18th with matches to come against 7th and 15th. I think we've been inconsistent - our best has been very good, our worst has been very ordinary - but we needed to be excellent with the draw we've had if we even wanted to qualify for finals.
