he could be like Greg "Diesel" Williams who was twice rejected by Carlton as a youngster because he lacked natural leg speed. and there have been other players who haven't had the leg speed that did ok at VFL (AFL) level.

He's failed to show us he has that level of talent, or that ability to overcome his speed. It's an issue in the roles he is capable of playing.

To be fair, there was a decent block where William’s was an absolute lock in our back line. He played some awesome footy, then got weirdly dropped one game and his form plummeted, never to be seen again. During that period, his lack of pace was never an issue. Such a weird one.

Funnily enough people ignore that he played a key part in us getting 3 goals and one of them was to get the go-ahead goal by Mayes. He's got IQ, good hands and okay in contest. Speed is subpar by I don't think it's something that should necessarily rule him from AFL permanently. As a draftee he was one of the smartest small/medium forwards I've seen

Joe Berry made the best players with 15 disposals and one point.

Sounds like Rome Burgoyne had another good outing going by comments here. Made the best player list and had 19 disposals.

Rome does his chances of being brought on to the list no harm.

Don’t know if the SANFL site has been updated but ave 14.9 disposals at 100% efficiency is pretty unique?

Berry is the one that needs AFL time as a forward.

If he's delisted another side will pick him up. The talent pool in AFL isn't deep enough for someone like Williams to not be on a list.

Nah it is. In the AFL a player like Williams is never further than a kick away from the play knows where his man is and picks him up and sits on him on the turnover.

The best SANFL smallish forward game I’ve ever seen played was Stuart Dew as a kid sick as a dog one day so centrals just told him to go stand in the goal square. He literally did not leave the goal square and Centrals just kicked it to him. Think he kicked 8 goals? You don’t do it in the AFL.

Exact post I was going to make. The whole time he was in the team in 23 I can barely remember his lack of pace being exposed. Was a general back there, very strong hands, great vision and backed himself to take a high risk kick. Never put a foot wrong, was one of my favourites.

Come 24 and for whatever reason he has fallen out of favour. Others were selected ahead even if form didn't warrant it (Burton and Jones). Then Evans gets picked up up and is selected straight away. It's around that time I noticed he started to not give a shit anymore, and fair enough too. Obviously not part of the syndicate so he was never getting back into the side.

Then as an ultimate troll they started to pick Atkins ahead of him as well. How would that make you feel. No wonder he hasn't shown any interest on the field majority of the year, what's the point.

Williams has only ever played forward at afl level as a forward in one game, that was vs sydney in either 2021/2022 forgot what year.

Absoloutley should be played, not as sub though, as soon as someone becomes sub u pencil them in for a shit game, i cant remember the last time someone impacted as sub for us.
