What's all the dither and fuss from the Crowies and Tinglers - Kamry Krows Krackpot Korporation - about a “major sponsor”? Why are they frothing over Port Adelaide Power and its vast number of generous sponsors? The continual hackneyed tripe they're spewing out is a sure sign of their own defensive mindset. Their “major sponsor” is in fact a cobbled-together group of Japanese car dealers who collectively call themselves the “sponsor”. They, in fact, have no connection with the vehicle manufacturer, they are merely a group of independent new and second-hand car dealers. Remember, car dealers are amongst the most dis-trusted people, rated only marginally above lawyers and advertising and insurance people. Oh boy, so much for that sponsor! LOL!

Annoyed by his continual ramblings, as were many of his Port peers, I wrote to the AFC at the time. I asked them to comment on what D_One had stated as fact. Surprisingly, they answered. Here is their official response.

'Our club is and has always been sponsored by Toyota Motor Corporation & the SA Toyota Dealers of which there were 22 (when I was doing it). Of the sponsorship income it is all paid by Toyota Motor Corporation. I am led to understand that all the dealers chip in to Head Office, but that would be less than 10% of the total deal.'

Isn't the true story that the car dealerships get an advertising allowance from central and they choose to spend it on the Crows. I'm pretty sure that's how it works, they might even chuck in a little of their own coin.
