Next Generation Academy Showdown
To be played at Alberton Oval, the U15 Next Generation Academy Showdown will see a section of the best SANFL-aligned players representing the Power and Crows Next Generation Acadamies in a joint initiative between the SANFL, Port Adelaide Football Club and Adelaide Football Club.
Saturday’s game will be a good opportunity for them to play against the best players from the two club zones.
Grimm said he was particularly eager to see Wanganeen and Burgoyne don a modified black, white and teal guernsey.
“Tex and Jase are both very talented players, both their dads are Premiership players at Port Adelaide and we are excited to give them the opportunity to play for Port Adelaide as well.
“While they play at Sturt and the Eagles, when people mention the names Wanganeen and Burgoyne, they think of Port Adelaide.”

Just to make it clear, not all these kids are part of our NGA program. Its a combo of kids in our NGA and the best kids in the 4 SANFL aligned clubs for NGA purposes for both Port and the crows.

The best Under-15s Norwood, South Adelaide, West Adelaide and the Eagles will line-up for the Power while the Crows will be represented by players from Sturt, Glenelg, North Adelaide and Central District. These are the same divisions used for the recent SANFL U15 and U17 State Championships held in the July School Holidays.

Not stereotyping or anything but do I look surprised that a player with a hyphenated surname is from Norwood? Of course there is one from South to provide #balance

Well done Kai Pudney, sanfl u18 comp best and fairest winner.

PORT ADELAIDE Next Generation Academy player Kai Pudney has won the 2018 McCallum-Tomkins Medal as the finest player in the SANFL Under 18s competition.
Originally from the Port District Football Club, Pudney was also a member of the South Australian Under 18 team which won the AFL National Championship.
In 2018, playing for the Eagles, he has played 11 games in the Under 18 Torrens Uni Cup, averaging more than 31 disposals.

Thanks.

I'm not comprehending the points and bidding system but at least I am now aware that we can salvage something from our investment on this project.

If someone wants Pudney at pick 26 and our next picks are 37 and 42 then we have to give them up to get Pudney. From the Deaft Value Index below.

Pick 26 = 756 pts

Give up picks 37+42 = 483+395 pts = 878 pts

Residual = 112 pts which means we get pick 63 ( if the residual was 115 pts we would still get pick 63)

ie picks 37+42 get us Pudney + pick 63

Is there any discount. This maybe old, or related to father son academy, bu it implies there used to be. https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/cou...m/news-story/2336f3c1b618638b6f5637bab62676fd

Logic says it should but no player has been taken from NGA in the main draft in either 2016 or 2017 so the rules havent been used yet. 5 have been taken as Cat B rookies in the 2 drafts since the NGA's came in. I forgot about that discount.

I haven't seen any articles with specific rules but given you get 20% discount for the Northern Academy players and Father Son players logic says you should get it. North will test those rules this draft as their NGA player Tarryn Thomas from Tassie is expected to be a top 10-15 pick and won the Div 2 best player medal at this years championships. He is a tall skinny Sudanese kid about 190 cms.

You get 20% off for picks 1-18 and after 18 you get a flat 197 pts ie what you got for pick 18.

So if the same rules apply then in my example above
Pick 26 = 756 pts - 197 pt discount = 559 pts
Give up picks 37+42 = 483+395 pts = 878 pts
Residual = 319 pts which means we get pick 47 and 3pts left over which gets us nothing extra
ie picks 37+42 get us Pudney + pick 47

If you want to know how 20% discount works for F/S and Northern Academies I explained it in this thread when the AFL announced the system in May 2015
