A friend of mine, seems to know every one in the AFL due to his line of work, was talking about how he gave Jordan Lewis a call about his suspension and when asked why Hawthorn played more aggressively (Luke Hodge, etc) and he said "Your team pissed us off, we realised we had to be even more intimidating from now on."

The team who've won the last two premierships and highly tipped to win a third...seem to be setting us as the benchmark.

Still, it's more intimidating to play in the actual games rather than watching on from the sidelines because of a 3 week ban

Scoreboard pressure is the best kind of intimidation I reckon, they are probably more concerned about how we booted 8 goals against them in a single quarter.

Could just as easily mean that they thought they had to be more intimidating so ball playing sides like us don't get a jump on them again, the ol can't beat them with skill beat them into submission.

I dont think we are physically intimidating like the Hawks and a few other sides. I reckon Hammer got inside their head and they were on guard at AO as umpires tend to favour the home team re frees for vs the travelling team especially when the travelling team gets aggressive and physical. I think after the Hawk players saw their angry ant coach go the biff they saw it as a licence to go the biff.

I have no doubt the Lewis and Hodge incidents were premeditated, so far as they were embarrassed by their first quarter against us last week and had not started well in any game this season, and were coached to be aggressive and not take a backward step against North. The Hawks have been kissed on the dick to 'only' be playing GWS and Melbourne whilst they both sit in the stands.
