"If Lukosius and Rankine end up going to Gold Coast, we're probably pretty happy to try to get them back in a few years' time," Cripps said.

"It's interesting, because then it just becomes a two-horse race between us and the Crows, as opposed to a Victorian kid that wants to come back home, who has potentially got 10 options.

"That's part of the discussion and strategy, but right at the minute, we're really comfortable with pick six."

Thoughts? Why are they picking on the Suns, but not Carlton who hold pick 1? Too scared to poke a Victorian club in case it backfires?
AFL are generally pleased for this to be a "national" competition but allow s**t like this to continue. QLD & NSW clubs will always be a step behind.

If Port can’t keep there own SA players (Polec, Wingard), they shouldn’t be worrying about trying to pinch other SA kids from other teams

Complete junk talk by Port, should be outlawed by the AFL and heavily fined.

What crap about SA kids wanting to go home only having two clubs but if you pick a Vic kid, he's got 10 clubs. Everyone nowadays is nominating one club to get traded to so doesn't matter where you're from!

Port, just worry about which player you are selecting with pick 6 and let Gold Coast take Lukocious and Rankine.

Its just stating the bleedin' obvious, why dress it up as bullying, a spade is a spade buttercup !!
What do you want the AFL to do, issue PC acceptable speech guidelines?

Only player to request a trade back to South Australia since our first year, in 2010 from either Queensland club is Jarad Polec from Brisbane and Port Adelaide couldn’t keep him at their club either.

Port have literally had more South Australian players request a trade away from their club this year alone than either one of the Queensland teams over 8 years

Really poor public comment from a list manager to make though.

It is a deliberate threat to discourage GC from selecting so as to improve the chance of that player sliding to pick 6. Calling it what it is would be calling it draft tampering.

A professional footy club would go out and say something like that?
no, just Port.

Someone should have pointed that out to Cripps.

Polec (one of the infamous brisbane mummy boys) and Wingard (who had GWS convinced he wasn't worth the flight risk) on their ways to Victoria to play for two clubs less in contention for a flag than Port.
That home state pull....doesn't last long.

Hawthorn and north Melbourne are “less in contention of a flag” than us despite both finishing higher on the ladder and one finishing top 4? Lol get off it. Both clubs are well ahead of us

I really can't see why anyone in this day and age would pass on a life on the Gold Coast to stay in a place where they still drive buses on the train tracks, and you still have to walk across the tarmac when your plane lands.

I'm gonna laugh my arse off in a few years when they had a young local talent in Francis actively wanting to return home and both SA clubs said 'Yeah nah, CBF offering anything even half-decent for him'.

That his best game to date was against Port IN Adelaide just makes me smile, in light of these comments.

Port should worry about their two best ball users who are South Australians walking out the door right as Cripps is spouting this crap.

Gold Coast will probably draft the two high school mates despite the threats from Port. If Port want to lure them away later then they'd better have a heap of top 5 picks to use!

Adelaide should worry about best 22 players walking out the door every single season. They should also worry about the long term psychological impacts of tying their players naked to trees
