It's funny I reckon both Polec and Pittard have been great pickups for Norf but they were never going to turn things around for them. Media is blaming the wrong people.
Yeah I've watched more North than normal to watch them, and Pittard in particular is performing really well IMO. I mean Polec is going well, but sort of at the high standard he was last year. But when you're being whumped like the Kangas are it becomes a bit meaningless I guess.

Yeh was funny listening to the radio hearing about how the Crows are back playing Corws footy again. Jesus, even we would have beaten the Suns at home. Give it another week I reckon before the 'back' calls are made. Beat the Saints over there impressively and then we will see.
I heard on the weekend Pyke mentioned to his players to play and win for eddy... now will they play for the coach?

Pure coincidence that the only player forced to retire through booing was aboriginal and had pointed racism out in the past.
Was he forced to retire?

He was 35.75 years old when he played his last game and even the umpires stopped giving him votes. They loved him, but his last 4 seasons he polled 2 (2012), 4 (2013), 0 (2014) and 1 vote in 2015.

He may have squeezed one more year out but he was well past peak Goodes when he quit. I have no doubt the taunts made him question going thru the slog of one more preseason, but also what was the contract value Sydney were prepared to give an almost 36 year old?

TBH Chad never looked that interested in staying or leaving, he just kinda let things play out.
Odd that he's gone from one of the most passionate rising stars to such a moody player. It just doesn't look like he cares anymore...
Wasn't it all part of his schtick that footy wasn't that important to him? Fair play if so, if he just wants 10 years or so earning pretty good money but never wants to be 300 gamer with a commentary or coaching career afterwards.

And come out of it with his body intact.
You couldn’t really blame him.
Like any footballer, they only have to do what people are willing to pay them to do.

Was just listening to the SEN team interview Adam Kingsley pre game as he is now at Richmond and assistant to Hardwick

It was a good chat about both the game and his time at different clubs.

Riewoldt after Kingsley left, said he was the best assistant coach he had in his 17 years. Said that he learnt stuff as a forward that others hadn't taught him, even late in his career and was fascinated that someone who never played in the forward line understood forward play so much.

The discussion between the panel finished off with them all feeling he is an AFL coach in waiting

I found this: Goodes, 35, decided during the off-season to play one last season with the Swans. The article also says he was considering immediate retirement after the West Coast away game in August of 2015.

Maybe he was planning 2015 to be his last year, maybe Sydney would have offered him a contract for 2016, maybe he would have played on if he wasn't the epicentre of racially charged booing. Who knows. I'm not sure he has ever publicly addressed whether he was considering playing on in 2016.

Ah the traditional Richmond v Melbourne ANZAC Day Eve (TM) game at the home of footy! How exciting to see these two blockbuster teams go at it
What you mean the game that only got played for the first time last year? This game is full of tradition.... the AFL house traditional cash grab.

This game is completely unnecessary.

lol Adam goodes did a lot of stuff to garner the boos that have absolutely nothing to do with his skin colour. Let's not forget he spent a while there sliding knees first into people he even did it to one of ours basically with impunity on game day.

We are also a club that after Dangerfield left the Crows for whatever reason our fans booed him in Adelaide, figure that one out. So all in all the best players have been booed for all time for no other reason than they are good players. Look at all the shit Tredrea copped and it wasn't because he's white.

The idea for the ANZAC Eve fixture was originally floated by Kevin Sheedy when he was playing at Richmond, even though night time footy wasn't a thing back then. But being the visionary without peer he his he knew floodlights would only be a matter of time....
