Lade on SEN this am sounds like he has had a lease of new life.
He said Richo is giving the other coaches a fair bit of leeway in how the team plays, in particular Ratten, who Richo says has the expertise in his area.
Lade is fond of "a fair bit of leeway". Hope for Saints' sake that he's not their forwards coach. And that Ratten keeps a close eye on him.

El_Scorcho can you imagine being a Bulldogs supporter right now?

They're selected two talls this weekend - English and Naughton.

After a barnstorming start to the season, Naughton had no impact last week with his partner Schache dropped.

They conceded 16 forward half marks, 9 contested, in defence to McKay & Casboult.

They've robbed Peter to pay Paul in defence and attack, completely sacrificing structure:
- Wood and Cordy playing as KPDs, not intercepting half backs.
- Naughton pinch-hitting in ruck, leaving 0 talls forward of the ball

It's like Beveridge read everything you've ever posted and decided to prove you wrong.

Beveridge is the worst coach in the league, absolute spud. I'd rather give Ken a 10 year extension than have him anywhere near our club.

Lade was a terrible fit - I don't care what anyone says. His media work was some of the worst i'd ever seen from the club. Absolute abomination.

Also St. Kilda are going to be found out any day now. They will finish 7th-12th.
St Kilda should improve on last year but yeah I don't see them being a threat.

Didn't he invent light? I'm pretty sure he did, just after he'd finish creating Aborigines.
He invented electricity, never mind that Yank revisionist bullshit. Once he invented electricity he could invent television so people didnt look at him like he was crazy when he said he would invent televised football blockbusters.

We messed Melbourne up first game.
Make no mistake there. Their season would be a lot different if not for that game.
So glad you mentioned this. That big loss would have got into their heads bigtime, would have had them 2nd-guessing, and would have significantly impacted subsequent performances! Yet it suits the narrative of some to say that that win means nothing 'coz Melbourne have since been crap! It just doesnt work that way. You play the opponent you have on that day, not one from a previous week, or one in the future! WCE learned that last week against Port!

Melbourne look sluggish all over the ground obviously had a disaster of a pre-season training program and basically don't have a forward worth a pinch of poo.
I reckon their woes started from the player revolt over that ill-fated camp a few preseasons ago. That showed to me that major issues existed between player & coaches/admin, especially relating to trust. The club swept that under the carpet, and the good results last year have just masked the underlying issue! The Crows have had a similar problem from their camp last year. The club tried to sweep it under the carpet, "nothing to see here!" Last year was a disaster, and IMO the trust issues are still impacting the playing group.

Their 2016 season free kick differential makes West Coast look like they get a Ports run. Ken could have gotten to a flag in any of 2015-2018 with that sort of help. I'm glad Melbourne are shit, so no risk of them being Fairytaled to a flag this year. North are shit and Saints won't sustain their current run, so at least we've just got to contend with the usual low level Vic bias and not full on 'You never go full ******' level working against us.

What's happened to Dustin Martin? A couple of years ago he looked like Superman. Now he seems barely interested.
Winning the Brownlow, Norm Smith and Premiership all in one year makes it hard to top that achievement. I suspect that the drive and desire is no longer there as there is nothing to aim for now. Success brings its own burdens I guess. The only thing he has to play for is the $$$ and that's hardly a motivator unless your cash strapped.

The AFL hosting a band prior to the ANZAC Day game is not sitting well with me.
Apparently it has happened the past few years (I wasn't aware of it). Doesn't really fit with the solemnity and commemorative aspect of the day, seems to be following a trend in the footy world (and debatably in Aus society) of ANZAC Day becoming more 'celebratory'
