Umpiring aside, it looked like a finals type game. Lots of pressure all over the ground, with a lot of the play confined to between the 50m arcs. Fairly low scoring.
Both teams look like they are well coached and they have players who can stand up to finals like pressure.

Without looking too far ahead, I'm going to be very interested to see how we cope with Collingwood's style of play. They have a lot of very good players, and collectively are playing a better team brand of footy. Hopefully, we're just as good if not better. After the last two weeks, who knows?

Even the SANFL has better umpiring, that says a lot

It's why I enjoy watching it more than AFL sometimes (i.e. last year's SANFL finals), the standard of the players are obviously second-tier, but it's not as over-umpired as AFL is these days

Sometimes it is hard to blame them though. Gil, Hocking and co have introduced so many interpretations and grey areas and rules that contradict other rules into the game that it's impossible to umpire consistently.
Absolutely agree but I think they need to come out and state their view on some of the calls that have been made lately. The interpretation of holding the ball and incorrect disposal is something that most would agree just isn't being judged correctly.
The players don't get it, the fans don't get it and the commentators don't get it.
