I had no idea who Spud was until tonight. Still, I would like to give my condolences to all of you who did know and cared about him. Both sides of my family have a long list of lives lost in car accidents.

If the AFL hadnt put up cash for the stadium then I am sure theyd be gone by now
I would make them the St. Kilda-Gold Coast FC, playing: 6 home games in GC (plus Finals); 4 home games in Melbourne; and 1 home game in Shanghai. It would stop the drain from Vic home-sickness and reduce the financial damage for the league, and it might ended up improving the Saints.

The open spot could go to Tasmania.

Public money to the richer club, seems fair.

Kick it to the fat side...

My footy team went on an end of season trip to Coober Pedy one time and a scratch match was organised on something similar to this - they marked out the boundary line with a bloke in the back of a ute dragging a star picket in the dirt. Unfortunately (luckily) I'd injured my ankle towards the end of the season and wasn't able to take the field :p

This grates as much as anything.

Crows are gifted a parklands location and public funds to build it, meanwhile we've been struggling to raise the cash for a clubroom refurbishment for the better part of 10 years.

abolish afl memberships getting privileged finals access when their team isn’t playing then throw the leftover tickets to club allotments.

they could do this tomorrow if they gave a s**t, its just a negotiation between the AFL and itself

Gf ticketing is a joke

I know someone who’s been to every single gf since forever. They’ve never been a member of any club that I know of and follow football as a passing interest. But daddy’s company has connections.

This is a big reason why I reckon Richmond will win the flag. Take away Rance's 200 games and they aren't missing much experience.

Hinkley defenders saying he's just been unlucky to lose games and needs all his best players on the park to be competitive but we must persist with him because of Hardwick and Richmond.

Meanwhile at Richmond Hardwick has got his team into a Preliminary Final despite missing numerous of his best players for large chunks of the season and is still missing his All Australian fullback.

I’ve mentioned this a few times previously, but since the Suns went up there and got out and about in the community, Queensland’s participation levels have overtaken South Australia’s.

Like the Swans, this is a 30-50+ year project to unlock the northern market and win hearts and minds, which is all the more crucial given how wobbly Rugby Union is at the moment.

Chuck in the multimedia potential of Queensland and the AFL will continue to wear financial losses and poor onfield performance for a long time to come.

Interesting mate.
Personally I'd like the league to get to 22 clubs.
Maybe a southern Sydney, retain both QLD clubs, add Tasmania and a Northern Adelaide and a Northern Perth club or similar

Imagine the league having 22 clubs lol, we wouldn't win a premiership in a million years.
It's starting to feel like that. Winning a final (eg Elim 2014 vs Richmond) or finishing top 4 feels like a flag now.

Richmond was missing Rance since the opener, Riewoldt for 12 games, Cotchin for 12 games and Caddy for 7 games.

Port missed Watts since the second round, Dixon for 11 games, Hartlett for 10 games and Wines for 7 games.

The difference is that Richmond is a premiership team that believes in their system. The only reason why the media goes on about Cotchin and Rance missing games is because they want to believe it’s talent that wins them flags and not their style of play...because literally anyone could play like Richmond does if they focused on the right player type and mindset.

Just mathematically speaking, adding new teams reduces your team's odds of winning the premiership. I can't fathom why anyone would want more clubs.

So they were missing a 5xAA, a 3xAA - 3x Coleman Medallist, A Brownlow Medallist - AFLCA award & AA.....and Josh Caddy. Not really comparable is it?
