I mean, the SA clubs effectively already have extra salary cap space compared to the other 16 clubs given the cost of living in Adelaide is lower than the other 4 mainland capitals. So in real dollar terms, us and the Crows have got the highest paid squads in the league.
Compare that to the quality we dont have in our list and than i think someone in the list management department needs to eat a mouth full of reality pie and * off

It's almost like were not paying the entire cap.

Well. Not all of it is going to players.
The thing is we are. $750g a year for Dixon (COME ON!) Wines is up there in the 600+g a year. Old Unreliable Rockys up in the 6s wasting cap on over rated players just to get them here! * that!!! Dont pay overs to get them here to the club. If they dont want to come for the money they are worth than goodbye keep that in mind for the Fantasia trade big time overs for a average at best player

Cost of living Bris/Gold Coast ain't much different to here. Perth's median house price has dropped below Adelaide's. Do they still charge ridiculous prices for beer and food over there?

Yes. Also, Perth is a two tier town of haves and have nots - the areas AFL players would live are still more expensive than Adelaide equivalents.

For the dollars shelled out and the hype of being a 'destination' club Big Dix and the Rocky Mots n Watts show has been as underwhelming as

Hinks fondling his penis with a ScoMo smirk between gulps of coke.

The problem with the cap is that there is a minimum spend which is 95%. So if you're s**t you're gonna really have to pay some of the players overs to meet the mark.

Theres a reason we have so many players under 22 and over 30 on our list.

Rozee, Duursma, Butters, Geogiades, Bergman, Williams, Meade are all on their first senior contracts

Woodcock, Grundy, Cox, Fredrick, Pasini, Burgoyne are all on rookie contracts

Buzza, McKenzie, Sutcliffe, are all on minimum contracts.

Atley, Lienert, Drew, Mayes, Garner, Farrell, Hayes, Patmore are all on uninspiring deals

24 of our players are potentially taking up ~2.3-3.5 million of our cap.

Which leaves 21 players to cover the remaining 9-10 million dollars. (Or an average of ~420-470k for everyone else on the list)

Why not target actual potential with the decent amount of cap rather than wasting it on over paying average underperforming players. That logic there makes no sense in a non business aspect let alone a business sense which is what the club is yeh?...

How can you target someone when they don't have any interest in coming here?

We dont play finals.
We lack a successful culture.
We dont play attractive football.
Our coach is floundering.
Our club is floundering.
We can't offer the lifestyle lots of current afl players are accustom to/looking for.

What you're expecting is for us to do is to magic up reasons for better players in the competition to come here when there aren't any.

One word for you. Money. Yes that other s**t helps a salesman sell his pitch but players want security (long term contracts) and more money. Clear out the extra baggage and be that club that throws 1.3 million a year to Jezza Cameron to get him on board. Throw the cheque book at Heeney get in quality players for the money they are worth. Look at it like this, you own a business, you employ Dave off the streets to fill a position in your company. Now this position is for a professional who can walk on his hands while doing a hand stand. Dave is a great guy can ride a unicycle and make people laugh but Dave is missing an arm. You employ him anyway, he cant get the job done but you pay him top dollar. Over 5 years the company loses money and you go bankrupt. Moral of the story get the right person for the job not just anyone.

Adelaide Football Club CEO Andrew Fagan has declined an invitation to speak at a public debate about the club’s plan to redevelop the ageing Aquatic Centre, branding the event a “headline-grabbing and point-scoring exercise” by park lands advocates.

Itd have to be a 50% tax for convincing someone like cameron or heeney here. And that's a minimum to get them listening in the first place. So have fun offering 2 million dollars a year to a player who might have no interest in coming here in the first place.

Yes you can convince players to come here. But it has to be so far and above what anyone else can muster up in any other state it's not funny.

Plus if a big name is going anywhere it's the shining lights of Melbourne or home. And we're all out of good players from Adelaide wanting to return home.

2 mill a year for a guaranteed 50+ goals a year extra its better than almost a million a year for someone thats lucky to kick 1.4 a game.

Look at the positives of playing for Ports though;

Extra month off every year
Donna's famous BBQ
Low expectations, mediocrity rewarded and celebrated
Prioritise life over work

Yep. When was the last really big name player moving to SA, that wasn't from SA to begin with?

Pffft Fagan doesn't talk to common folk.

7 years. Wow. Love the way Grundy portrays all this zen bullshit about the big picture and whats most important in life. He was never moving back to SA, he used that simply as a bargaining chip. It was that obvious I'm surprised they even fell for it. Maybe being the kooky guy makes them think he's unpredictable? Collingwood wanted to give him 3 years, he wanted 7. In the end he got 7. No bargaining, no meeting in the middle, no yin, no yang,

'What's most important in life'

Is this the same as Chad 'family is everything' Wingard who opted to move further away from his family?

Wouldn't want to risk one of the plebs going near his car, or raising his Brumbies land deal

Fagan not used to having to consult anyone about anything.
