I did not. Why reduce capacity by fixed percentage but then have everyone sitting in the same spots?
SMA trying to save on staffing costs for the night by simply having people not able to get up to the top levels.

Not in the western stand. Was about 75% full. It looked more than 13k on Tv.
The western stand sits a lot less than the Eastern and Southern stands. Closing the top level of those two is a massive decrease in seating area.

Removing standing room, like the hill also drops off a significant number from Adelaide Ovals capacity.

Lol,
2019: gee crows crowd looks a little small.
SMA ; nah mate there was 48k through the turnstiles
2020: how did you get 18k to fit in with the social distancing regulations without opening the top teirs?
SMA; yeah sorry we did a recount actually only 13k so should be all good. Have a look at how much hot chips we sold if you don't believe us, it's much less that we'd usually sell if we let 18k in here

"Let's admit we 'stuffed this one up' and people will believe our future numbers because we've 'fixed the issue'."

67k at the next crows game it is.

I assumed it had something to do with all the people huddled together waiting to go down the socially distanced escalator after the Showdown but since they are allowed up the top for the Port game I'm just going to assume that there wasnt enough demand to open it up.

They should have allowed more than 500 Saints fans to attend if the Crows ones didnt want to.

Perhaps this is the real stuff up.

Let in 18k, but close off the top levels to reduce staffing needs and save $$.
Report 13.5k to satisfy SA Health requirements, claim a 'stuff up'.

It's the SMA so you know it's possible.

AFL 2020: The inside story of how the Crows lost elite midfielder Hugh Greenwood
Reece Homfray, The Advertiser
July 22, 2020 5:12pm

Don Pyke wasn’t always keen on playing him and Adelaide wasn’t interested in paying him – even though he wanted to stay at the Crows.
And now seven games into this season Hugh Greenwood has emerged as one of the leading midfielders in the competition while the Crows’ midfield is getting smashed.

If you’re an Adelaide fan and the stats don’t make you cry then the quote from Gold Coast footy boss Jon Haines this week will make you wince.

“We identified a real gap in terms of a big-bodied mid to take a bit of pressure off Dave (Swallow) and Touk (Miller) who have done a lot of the grunt work, and provide protection and leadership to our younger mids who we knew were coming in through the draft,” Haines said this week.
....

Josh Jenkins wanted to leave Adelaide, Eddie Betts wanted to leave, Alex Keath wanted to leave, Jake Lever, Charlie Cameron, Patrick Dangerfield and Mitch McGovern – they all wanted to leave.

Greenwood wanted to stay.

Yeah but Greenwood wouldn't have helped them this year. They don't need another mid who might get them some clearances but then do absolutely nothing else around the ground.
