Looking forward to seeing how giving a guy a 4/5 year deal who does not really want to be at your club, and who you dont really want, goes.
lol I love how the ambassadors and sycophants in the media work against them in so many ways. The minute a player indicates he may want out, it's a pile on and talking him down.

Easy pickings for other clubs.

The VFL will return with 22 teams from three states next year, including a mixture of AFL reserves, aligned teams and stand-alone clubs, plus the return of a historic Victorian side.

The AFL confirmed on Thursday afternoon the league would run with a 16-round season, alongside the SANFL and WAFL as the highest level of competition below the AFL itself.

The name of the league is yet to be confirmed. In a statement, it was referred to as the VFL and East Coast Second-Tier Competition.

It will include six teams from New South Wales and Queensland.

Brisbane, Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Geelong, Gold Coast, GWS, North Melbourne, Richmond, Sydney and the Western Bulldogs (as Footscray) will participate in the league.

Three VFL aligned clubs will return - Sandringham (St Kilda), Box Hill (Hawthorn) and Casey (Melbourne).

There will also be eight stand-alone second-tier clubs, with Coburg, Frankston, Port Melbourne, Werribee and Williamstown to continue from the existing VFL.

Aspley and Southport will join the league from the NEAFL while the Preston-based Northern Bullants will return after splitting from Carlton. They were known as the Northern Blues from 2012.

So glad we are in the tin pot league

We need to get into this league. Call the $ANFL bluff.

22 teams, 16 rounds? Please explain.

Probably 2 conferences North and South to save some travelling costs. Play those in your conference once and 6 games against teams from other conference.

North
Brisbane, GC, Aspley, Southport, Sydney, GWS + 5 of wealthier AFL clubs' B grade teams (head back to the hubs)

South
Coburg, Frankston, Port Melbourne, Werribee, Williamstown, Sandringham (St Kilda), Box Hill (Hawthorn), Casey (Melbourne), Northern Bullants + 2 of poorer AFL clubs' B grade teams - my guess North and Footscray

That means South conference would play 10 other vic based sides, the 5 Vic sides in the North conference and VFL clubs have to only cough up $$ for 1 interstate trip.

Just had a look at the results so far in The Bay 13 Leon Davis medal - Spud of the GF, vote and the Bay seems to be about right, Rohan 41.9% and Dangerfield 38.8%.

Yep. This East Coast competition is kind of ridiculous. They should have just created an AFL Reserves and invited SA and WA clubs. Such a disadvantage for SA and WA clubs.

The non-affiliated Vic clubs (VFL) should have just created their own league - if not enough teams poach some VFA teams into VFL. Or put any Vic AFL teams that haven’t won a flag in this century in the VFL - Carlton, Norf, St.K Melb

Well last night just about finishes the "extraordinary" 150th season for us, other than the draft I guess?

Not much else to savour, except the release of the Commemorative Book. Hope it has an addendum to talk about the events of 2020.

Guess we move forward to another "business as usual" season in 2021 - unless a few events that were planned for this year, but got cancelled, spill over into next season.

I’m glad Isaac Smith went to Geelong purely because it will make Hawthorn fans mad.

Hope he kicks the winning goal after the siren on Easter Monday next year.

Port Magpies, Swamprats forever,
Something that I have just learned: Jeff Kennett likes the concept of players being one-club players, and wishes that Isaac Smith had played out his career at Hawthorn.
