According to Steve Hocking the new man on the mark rule is to give us more "Dustin Martin moments". ABC radio presenter, and Richmond supporter, Andrew Hogan sums it up pretty well;

15 less interchanges with 4 more minutes each quarter, there will be some sore bodies this year.

There is only ONE reason the new standing on the mark rule has been put into place together with the push for more GOALS - ADVERTISING REVENUE - more goals means more advertising space for channel 7 to meet advertiser commitments or increase those commitments. Once these commitments are met you notice that they talk through to the bounce.
Of course it is but it's ******* stupid along with many recent rights designed to increase scoring that don't work.

Got it. I think they are missing an asterisk then?
Can be spelt with a U as well, usually pronounced that way.

For those who don’t know it refers to indigenous people as a disease/deserving of eradication.

Maybe it's a good thing that so many people don't know the word.

It was the common word for indigenous Australians when I was young. Which is really odd given that Kevin Sheedy hadn't even invented them then. :think:

i know the word but it has 5 letters so that headline is just literally wrong
Two letters plus three asterisks equals five characters.

That aside, I'm not sure that when a "swear filter" is applied to a word the number of replaced characters is meant to be taken literally.

The gentleman on the mark must rotate themselves 180 degrees such that they are facing away from the free kick recipient. To show subservience, they must then pull down their pants, bend over and expose their buttocks. The free kicker than has the choice of either progressing play downfield, or attempting to kick the ball into the anus of the man in front, which can result in a "pooper Zooper goal", which is now worth ten points.

one of the main complaints with umpiring at the moment is picking out random soft free kicks. this dogshit rule compounds that fact by giving the free kick a higher value, since the man on the mark can now apply zero pressure.

add to the fact that the 50m rule is awful in many instances and has gotten worse with low scoring games, where one 50m penalty can have a massive impact. this sort of penalty should be reserved for the worst offences, like polaxing someone after a marking contest or cheap hits off the ball. instead.. instead of this, the AFFL have decided in their wisdom to give umpires another ridiculous offence, like the protected area bullshit, to generate even more controversial 50s.

this still does nothing to address the root issue of lower scoring games, which is down to better fitness/tactics etc.
Also, the players have 20+ years of being able to move on the mark ingrained into their brains, you just know that they’re going to move side to side because of habit. It seriously feels like the AFL are just ******* around for shits and giggles now
