Cam Mooney (worked with the Bulldogs for a while) reckons that Murphy will enjoy the medal for a few days then hand it back to Beveridge. Sounds the right thing to do and fits with Murphy's character.
Ch7 in Melbourne reported that the AFL is being urged to give Beveridge a medal for the one he gave up.

Would you really want to keep one in those circumstances? Medal or not, you're always going to remember (along with others) that you didn't play in the Grand Final. Unless they change it to all on the list (or all who played <x> number of games or more) get a medal, regardless of if they played in the big game. It'd just be a continual reminder there of what's missed IMO, not that you were a part of it. I'd hate having it.

I agree, and that's why I expect that Murphy will hand it back to Beveridge. Apart from that it just opens it up to all sorts of grey areas for the future. Best to stick with the tradition of just the players on the day. As painful as it is for guys such as Bob Murphy, I expect they wouldn't want it any other way. Probably if you looked back over the years there are similar stories almost every GF.

Murphy's medal would be worth bugger all to the guys at the Las Vegas pawn shop, and that's main thing here.

"Yeeeeeaaaaaah, I understand it's a premiership medal, but Murphy didn't actually play in the game which brings the value down a lot. Had this come from a guy who played in the Grand Final we'd be talking serious bucks".

Sheppard's had a couple of outstanding years. Good footballer.

And a bit disingenous to leave out Scully who will be a 250+ game winger who carved it up this year.
Scully has had 1 very good year out of 7. Not really what you would have hoped for by a number 1 pick. I agree he will be a 200 gamer but compare that to Riewoldt's Hodge's Goddard's Cooney's Deledio's etc first 7 years.

Brad Sheppard is a solid footballer but he isnt a household name in the footy world. Outside of WA and the WCE supporters interstate few could tell you much about him.

Not taking anything away from the Dogs, they may well have won had the game been at the SCG. But in general, it's a ridiculous advantage that Melbourne clubs have for no proper football based reason.

And I accept your rain analogy but that still won't stop me complaining ;)
The big advantage is not travelling, have family and friends around you in a normal set up, sleeping in your own bed etc and for the club administration having it in your own town is so much easier on club staff.

But it was the expansion of the VFL and not a whole new league like the A league so the Vics won. Winners write history and they also write the rules. Until you still have 10 Vic teams and not 4 it will alway be a decent advantage to the Vics. And of course that advantage is there until the 2037 GF.

Gordon quote FTA:
I hope and I believe it will be remembered as one of the enduring moments of enormous great noble sportsmanship in this country and in the history of AFL Grand Finals.
That's why I think we should cheapen and undermine this magnificent gesture by striking another medal and giving him one anyway.

Confidence plays a huge role in success . Lets hope the Port boys can rip their arse into gear next season. Unfortunately on this site you will get some attention seeking vindictive wanks who want to blame coaches from years ago . These try hard pseudo intellectuals and the piss weak suck boy followers who lap this shit up and will drop their panties to please, are easy to pick . Insulting and negative remarks about our club seem to impress these weaklings . The more horrid one particular anti Port Adelaide person becomes, the more his ignorant followers seem to get a hard on. Wake up boys, this goose needs immediate medical attention.
I am unclear what you're saying.

Do you really think that our team just needs a pat on the back and a good onya boys good try so that they feel more confident and then that will lead to success? Really? We can't ever question, complain or point out the shit in our club.

Our club is not so precious and i didn't think our supporters were either, that we can't make tough calls and be brutally honest so that we can strive for the ultimate success. I think turning on our own posters for their opinions is a bit lame. How about trying to prove why you think that posters are wrong with vigorous and intelligent debate instead.

I bet Primus is looking forward to his GF medal being awarded late
Exactly. If they even consider awarding extra medals, they will open a can of worms. Sorry Bevo, you might be flavour of the month but if changes are made, it can only be going forward from next year. Anyway, I'm sure Murphy will return the medal after all the celebrations are over.
