NUFC, YES.
Norf, then GWS, then Geelong. I think they'll make a prelim, surely they can't lose to Geelong for a third time in the same year?
They're not beating the loser of Sydney-GWS over there. Their 'midfield' will get creamed.

That midfield spanked GWS earlier in the year. Admittedly at AO. But the crows have traveled interstate pretty well all year.
That was straight up the worst I've seen GWS play all year. They played some seriously dumb, incohesive football that night

Few random thoughts about the results yesterday.

- Another year of hype and backslapping for Melbourne for SFA. All these supposed young superstars, yet produce so little. Frustrating that they beat us, but they are dickridden by the media and the majority of bigfooty when there really isn't much there.

- Richmond are an absolute mile off the pace. I think it will take a few years to rebuild the team to a finals contender again and it's become pretty clear that Hardwick isn't the guy to lead them there.

- Sydney still my favourites for the flag. Depending on how the shape of the finals draw plays out I think it will be either Geelong or West Coast who join them on grand final day. GWS' form is tremendous, but can't quite see them getting all the way to the MCG. Hawthorn will be thereabouts but I think this might be the year they fall short.

- Patton is starting to look absolutely immense. He's shown bits and pieces throughout his first few years in the AFL, but the last two weeks he's genuinely started to look dominant. Great time for him to be coming into that phase.

.... Also I generally learn a heap because I don't keep up with the draft.
There's only about 3 people who do, and in the end I'm not sure why they do. I like my footy but even halfway through the season I can rarely pick above 6 teams a round in the footy tips. How the heck am I going to pick amongst a bunch of 17 year olds who've all excelled in some way in junior/rep footy?

Flags aren't won from outside of the 4 in this system.
Setting aside the fact that that 20 year old 'rule' will one day be broken the Crows being outside the 4 (if Hawthorn win) is slightly artificial. They were one game off second, after a hard draw. The loss on Friday opened a trapdoor to the bottom 4 because of the likely result of 4 other games this round, three of which have come off now. The main thing is loss of the double chance and having to travel to play an extra game, but the latter isn't a thing for non-Vic clubs.

They have to get over North first.

OK I know chances are they will, but l'm gonna be glass half full here and focus on the fact that they struggled against our Magpie U19s team last week, so anything is possible!

Twood be Richmondesque.

Norf shouldn't be playing finals. Will get smashed no matter who they play.

Easily the most undeserving side in the 8. They will get what they deserve.

Also, gws will go out in straight sets after giving the swans a scare in the qualifying final.
Here we go again. So crows into a prelim and then win the GF?

Nick nailed it. But might be looking for a new job right now. So if anyone can help him out...

Nick Ryan: One banana and hysterical Crows fans want to play blame game against Port Adelaide

IF this week has taught me anything it’s how I’ve never been happier than I am right now to be a Port Adelaide man.

Mainly because it saves me from the alternative.

Nothing exposes the synthetic supporters who consider themselves the sum total of all South Australians more than the opportunity to whinge about the failings of the nasty people from Port Adelaide.

If there's any justice in this world the hawks will win tomorrow. People like David Penberthy don't deserve any joy in their lives, none at all.
Right on.

Also St Kilda annihilating Brisbane so the druggies don't get pick 1 and O'Meara can't walk to them would make me smile a little.

Don't underestimate a team with nothing to lose and 4 club legends playing their last game.

Emotion is a powerful thing in football.

Is there any way of getting a version of this from outside the paywall?

I wonder if Don Pyke has had a look at the premiership ladder yet.
I hope he was too busy in meetings yesterday to even check the scores and woke up this morning popped on his dressing gown and slippers wandered out onto the front patio retrieved the Sunday Mail ambled back inside opened the paper to the sports section his life partner asks him what he would like for breakfast just as he gets to the premiership table and he responds "****ing **** a ****ing duck" to which the previously mentioned life partner responds "Unusual Don, but I'll see what I can do".
