Pyke walked because he knew he was going to be scapegoated for The Camp™. Don't confuse that with the Camry Crows sacking him because they decided they needed a more competent coach.

lol the other day, Triple M had Brett Burton on to chat about his big management leadership and networking event, he waxed lyrical about Pyke and John Worsfold being there along with some "highly influential women, because this event isn't just for men!" (cringe).

Nice to know Riccuito is still pulling favors for old mate Burto. I too want to go to a leadership event with Pyke, Worsfold and Burton who all oversaw very troubled programs at various points.

Adelaide's acceptance of mediocrity always corresponds to our level of success. Now they've seen that even with once in a century chances presented by COVID that Ken isn't winning a flag, then with us (for some reason) sticking with him, then their usual 'Port being poor is more important than us being good' mindset is happy. So any improvement, no matter how small will do them. If we'd somehow jagged a flag last year I have no doubt that a) Nicks wouldn't have been extended yet and b) there'd have been a much bigger overhaul of their coaching staff. Only periods of our success or threatened success raise them from their bitter anti-Port slumbering.

What a load of crap !!

Am I the only one who read his user name and thought this must be thunderclouds crows supporting twin brother?

In the end, short of either cutting our spend North Melbourne style or doing something only one club in the league (West Coast) is able to do and that is get 50k of our own fans through the gates every week, we have no path to profitability.

Would've helped a lot if covid didn't exist and if our government wasn't full of racists that are making it increasingly difficult to do business with China.

Give it a rest mate. Despite all the tough talk and khaki electioneering those human rights concerns aren't an issue for the Australian Government when it comes to big business are they?

China imported $US127.58 billion ($A174 billion) of Australian goods from January to September, a year-on-year increase of 45.5 per cent in US dollar terms.

Our paths to profitability are:
1. A flag (increased members, sponsors and existing sponsors upping what they pay)
2. China
3. A better stadium deal
4. A rich benefactor

1 isn't happening with Hinkley. 2 isn't as China it's an all or nothing deal with Australia and won't separate us from how they view the government. 3 isn't without real AFL / SA government pressure and we can't seem to strike that ever. 4. None of us are winning Powerball and we either don't have mega-rich fans or they aren't dying and leaving to the club.

So the path of mediocrity continues into the distance on and off field. The club wonders why people are disengaged.

As soon as the MAGA crowd went rabid yellow-peril we probably should have guessed there was no more to anti-china rhetoric than whatever serves reactionary bigotry.

Given this clown was a members' elected Director, the customers at least can't blame the club over this stuff up (except for the anti vaxxer mob of course).

His full statement and responses to media questioning (as summarised by Steve Larkin) below:

Nick Takos says he sought, and was refused, a medical exemption from having a COVID-19 vaccine.

"The AFL's COVID mandate, and the club's deeply concerning response to it, has left me with no choice but to step down," Takos said in a statement on Wednesday."
"While I am not anti-vaccination generally, corporations should not tell their staff and footy fans what medical treatment is good for them through a mandatory vaccination policy."
"I cannot support a coercive and forceful policy that does not consider the proportionate risk to players and staff."
"I cannot support a policy that unfairly discriminates against our highly diverse 60,000 members and over 650,000 fans who have a wide range of personal and medical considerations when it comes to vaccination."

Takos said he became "increasingly concerned" after one of Adelaide's SANFL players was diagnosed with pericarditis, a serious heart condition.
He said the state league player was diagnosed "as a result of taking the COVID vaccination at the direction of the AFL and club".

"Based on this, I called a special board meeting to urgently discuss the player's condition, the health and safety of all of our players and other associated risks," he said.
"It was clear the board was immovable on this issue."

Takos said getting a COVID-19 vaccine was "ultimately a medical decision that we each have to make for ourselves and in some cases with advice from our doctors".
"The only option available was to fall into line at the expense of my personal (private) medical circumstances,"
he said.
Takos said he had "unique health conditions which have been deemed significant by my specialists" and his request for a medical exemption, supported by his cardiologist, was rejected by the club.
"I cannot agree to the imposition of that corporate edict on my health, values and convictions, and those of other staff, players and members, despite the personal cost," he said.

The poor mob at West Lakes. They just can't escape the media spotlight.

Looking forward to see how the customers blame Caro/Rucci for this one.

lol, as if the Camry Crows would overrule a legitimate medical exemption from a cardiologist.
