Given this clown was a members' elected Director, the customers at least can't blame the club over this stuff up (except for the anti vaxxer mob of course).

His full statement and responses to media questioning (as summarised by Steve Larkin) below:

Nick Takos says he sought, and was refused, a medical exemption from having a COVID-19 vaccine.

"The AFL's COVID mandate, and the club's deeply concerning response to it, has left me with no choice but to step down," Takos said in a statement on Wednesday."
"While I am not anti-vaccination generally, corporations should not tell their staff and footy fans what medical treatment is good for them through a mandatory vaccination policy."
"I cannot support a coercive and forceful policy that does not consider the proportionate risk to players and staff."
"I cannot support a policy that unfairly discriminates against our highly diverse 60,000 members and over 650,000 fans who have a wide range of personal and medical considerations when it comes to vaccination."

Takos said he became "increasingly concerned" after one of Adelaide's SANFL players was diagnosed with pericarditis, a serious heart condition.
He said the state league player was diagnosed "as a result of taking the COVID vaccination at the direction of the AFL and club".

"Based on this, I called a special board meeting to urgently discuss the player's condition, the health and safety of all of our players and other associated risks," he said.
"It was clear the board was immovable on this issue."

Takos said getting a COVID-19 vaccine was "ultimately a medical decision that we each have to make for ourselves and in some cases with advice from our doctors".
"The only option available was to fall into line at the expense of my personal (private) medical circumstances,"
he said.
Takos said he had "unique health conditions which have been deemed significant by my specialists" and his request for a medical exemption, supported by his cardiologist, was rejected by the club.
"I cannot agree to the imposition of that corporate edict on my health, values and convictions, and those of other staff, players and members, despite the personal cost," he said.

The poor mob at West Lakes. They just can't escape the media spotlight.

Looking forward to see how the customers blame Caro/Rucci for this one.

Trust the doctors....

No not that one.

So 8 Games x 30,000 = 240,000 attendences

$6 million turnaround attributed to this

$25 per attendence going directly back to the club

That's a mind boggling deal

It's not quite as simple as that:

“We’ll have a strong operating profit and modest statutory profit,” he said.

The overall result, which is yet to be signed off by the club’s auditors, would include extraordinary items.

Who knows what this includes - when did JobKeeper finish? Maybe it's your and my tax dollars that's got them out of the poo, or maybe they sold a two bedroom weatherboard house in Redfern.

Thats bullshit. Its not all atributed to crowds at SCG and stadium deals/yield. A big part of the reason is they didnt have to give membership refunds and /or credit as big as in 2020. That helps significantly.

Every club will make a profit in 2021 before extraordinary items because the AFL made them slash costs to the bone last year and spending controls were maintained in 2021, but revenue streams have bounced back by a decent level.

They would if they are abiding by the ATAGI guidelines as many professions are being forced to do.

Almost noone can get an exemption via their rules regardless of their Drs advice.
I specifically said a legitimate medical exemption. :)

Lots of cash going around Sydney/NSW. Probably didn't need to do much to get a good deal.

There are plenty if legitimate medical concerns that don't fall under the ATAGI guidelines.

Gold standard evidence based medicine should take into account the expert advice of the Dr for a reason.

Otherwise overzealous beurocrats make everything one size fits all and noone gets the right personalised care.

Not going to argue semantics :)

Give it a rest mate. Despite all the tough talk and khaki electioneering those human rights concerns aren't an issue for the Australian Government when it comes to big business are they?

China imported $US127.58 billion ($A174 billion) of Australian goods from January to September, a year-on-year increase of 45.5 per cent in US dollar terms.

China imported a $1127.58 billion of Australian iron ore and coal because it fuels their industry/economy. Any boycott on sending these goods to China would adversely affect the Chinese people because they are both essential materials...they tried surviving without Australian coal and it ended up with rolling blackouts, while the construction industry in China accounts for 30% of their total GDP - and the construction industry is the predominant consumer of steel (which requires iron ore and coking coal) in China.

Can you imagine what would happen to China if 30% of their entire GDP was suddenly wiped out because they can no longer make steel? A economic collapse akin to Mao's incredibly stupid Four Pests bullshit. You remember that one - that killed somewhere between 20 million and 43 million people.

It would be a human rights violation if the Australian Government didn't send iron ore and coal to China.

Most Australians seem to not consider Chinese people as humans, so they don't worry about that.

lol, as if the Camry Crows would overrule a legitimate medical exemption from a cardiologist.

Yep. InDaily reporting that there is angst in CrowLand at the fact that Takos’s statement referred to a player’s private medical details without Takos being aware of the specific circumstances involved.

Causing such a train wreck and resigning without even attending a single meeting is quite an achievement.

I wonder if he will put it in his CV?

If it was that dire, they bring their 2 mil army and take it

Nah, they are trying to setup their own mines in Equatorial Guinea. Which incidentally, is where they want to set up their first Atlantic facing naval base.

If the Brazilians had their s**t together and Vale/BHP didn't keep having mine/dam disasters, the Chinese would be switching their purchasing decisions. Its a marriage of convenience at the moment for both Oz and China despite having a big fallout since 2017.

I don't think banning Australian iron ore going to China is a violation of their human rights. We didn't ship any or much for all of the 20th century and they didn't scream violation.

This set of data proves it.

So prison bars on Friday night prime time or???

It would make sense that the AFL have put it in prime time to take advantage of the hype that would surround us getting granted access to regularly wear the bars.

It's a Crows home game.
We won't be wearing the bars.
