I don't, it's ruined peoples careers, it's destroyed people after they finished football, smacking someone in the head the laziest and weakest form of intimidation.
You are only focusing on the high head contact ones it was part of the game for a hundred years.

You can still bump legally, and it's fine and it's still a part of the game. What isn't is the lazy bump where you don't account for the opposition players head and their overall height compared to yours.

This is a well executed bump, got nowhere near his head

Edit, and another.

The second one isn't even a bump and people jizzed over the SPP one because it barely happens anymore.

That's because they have terrible bumping techniques so most of them end up like this

If they bumped correctly by significantly lowering their bodies to avoid high contact and going in hard it'd be fine, but too many still propel themselves into the bump by leaving the ground

Chose to bump, hit head, suffer consequence.

Why don't people understand this.
Because it takes any opposition players responsibility to protect themselves out if it. So we ended up with people trying to get hit in the head for frees and also running around without a care ala tape

PORT ADELAIDE

Chad Wingard is a two-time All-Australian as a half-forward, kicking on average nearly two goals a game throughout his career. But as we have seen in the pre-season, he could also be a creative midfielder who could lessen the burden on Robbie Gray. If this becomes a regular one-two punch combo in the midfield, coach Ken Hinkley could then get bigger years out of at least one of the likes of Jarman Impey, Karl Amon, Jake Neade, Brendon Ah Chee or the returning Angus Monfries. Someone out of this bunch has to kick 35-plus goals this season to give Port a chance.

Career best figures for goals.

Monfries - 39 (2013)
Ah Chee - 6 (2015)
Amon - 10 (2016)
Neade - 15 (2016)
Impey - 15 (2016)

35 from any of them this season seems a bit of a stretch.

Oh bullshit.

He chose to shepherd to protect a teammate, kept low and held his ground.

Tape got knocked out because he was a stupid f**kwit.

You don't knock out a person if you shepherd correctly, he hit him in the head so he failed his duty of care to the person he hit.
Absolute rubbish. Tape had a duty of care to keep his head up and be aware of his surroundings, especially as he was chasing our most valuable asset with an intent to tackle.

Hartlett stepped in, kept low, held his ground. Tape, who had his head down like a developmentally-delayed greyhound, ran into him at speed.

Tape gets knocked out and the pantswetters go mad.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your perspective), that's the way the game has been tracking for a long time now. If you go the man rather than the ball, make high contact and your opponent ends up hurt or concussed, you are gone no matter what the mitigating factors are.

All is not lost. Penalising duckers is now a thing.

PS - let's not forget the irony of Hartlett getting pancaked in the back by an illegal tackle and hurting his shoulder later in that game. were there any suspensions handed out to the offending GC17 player because Hammer got injured? Of course not, silly. It's part of the game lolol
