Yes he did but he should have got more. The media rushed to his defence, unlike Jonas. The potential for more damage was there for all to see.
If a Port player did to an opponent what Hodge did to Wingard, said player might as well announce his retirement, effective immediately......

Hodge got 2 because of his good bloke status.

All is not lost. Penalising duckers is now a thing.

PS - let's not forget the irony of Hartlett getting pancaked in the back by an illegal tackle and hurting his shoulder later in that game. were there any suspensions handed out to the offending GC17 player because Hammer got injured? Of course not, silly. It's part of the game lolol
Will be interesting to see how the new ducking rule affects the ducking king, Joel Selwood.

I don't have a problem with players getting suspended for knocking somebody out with a bump but friendly reminder that Hammer's bump on Seb Tape received the same penalty as Luke Hodge's attempted murder of Chad Wingard.

If the head was as sacrosanct as they say it is, Hodge's suspension for that hit should expire in about 2019.

Incorrect, contact to the head is sacrosanct and is renumerated through free kicks.

Contact to the head that causes concussion (and as of jlt 1 2017 with krakouer, has the potential to cause horrible injury) is penalised with suspension.

Hodge never concussed wingard and was suspended for the poor look

I have a different view on this.

Lindsay Thomas ducks.
Joel Selwood goes to break the tackle by lifting his arm and as a consequence, the tackler goes high.

both instances, i dont think should be free kicks, as the tacklee enacts the high contact upons themselves, not the tackler

Chad Wingard has some serious concerns about his head. Whether he was knocked out and carried off after the Hodge hit or whether he got straight back up and banged through a few goals is immaterial. The trouble facing the AFL in years to come will be from guys like Wingard potentially suffering delayed consequences of their head knocks. I thought we all knew this? I thought we all knew where bodies like the NFL are running into trouble already. This is exactly why the whole "He copped a leaner sentence because the guy got straight back up" is such a load of shit. Chad Wingard may go into a life threatening seizure one day after retirement because of that Hodge hit. We don't know. Luke Hodge should not have played another game in 2015 following that hit. One of the more malicious, deliberate attempts to maim I've seen on a football field in decades.
