Chad Wingard has some serious concerns about his head. Whether he was knocked out and carried off after the Hodge hit or whether he got straight back up and banged through a few goals is immaterial. The trouble facing the AFL in years to come will be from guys like Wingard potentially suffering delayed consequences of their head knocks. I thought we all knew this? I thought we all knew where bodies like the NFL are running into trouble already. This is exactly why the whole "He copped a leaner sentence because the guy got straight back up" is such a load of shit. Chad Wingard may go into a life threatening seizure one day after retirement because of that Hodge hit. We don't know. Luke Hodge should not have played another game in 2015 following that hit. One of the more malicious, deliberate attempts to maim I've seen on a football field in decades.
And yet Jonas' hit last year was allegedly 3 times worse.

Obviously bumping someone into a soft squishy surface is less damaging than elbow to the back of the skull.
False.
The soft squishy substance players are usually bumped into is air.

The actually solid substance Wingard was bumped into was an actual solid object.

His head was between hodges hip and the point post.

Literally every other head high hit, the victims head is free to move on impact.

I was thinking *Tweaker Houston* after finny dropped Whitney
We all know REH has his heart set on NASA Houston so perhaps just humour him a bit and run with it. Try as he might "Earl" Gray never took off so maybe we should just give him this one as a gesture of goodwill.

Some threads make me laugh. I sometimes think people argue stupid points because they aren't getting any fruity arguments at home and just love the thrill of trying to annoy others by labouring those ridiculous points.

On this I still call Boak the Duck because of how he runs with a real stuck out backside, and when he came to Port I tried to get that name to take off....... It didn't, it hasn't, and now I just seem like a dick when I say it, but ah well Boak will always be the Duck.to me.

Jonas' hit last year was worse.

You're better off referring to the Roberton hit if you want to make a 'Port waz robbed!' argument. Jonas deserved everything he got last year. It was a dog act.

Tex Houston is the worst thing I've heard since people making some connection between Eddie Betts' and Brett Eddy's names.
Tex Houston is lame, but I must admit one of my hopes for the year is for Brett Eddy to go off in a Showdown and the Port fans to start up an Eddy chant.

Nah I reckon you've got it the wrong way around. The Jonas and Hodge incidents were both dog acts, it's just that Jonas was the only one who got an appropriate penalty.

We can't fall into the trap of comparing other suspensions to the Hodge v Wingard suspension. If Hodge getting two weeks for that hit is used as a precedent, it's entirely possible that nobody will ever be suspended again.

Jonas deserved what he got. Hodge deserved much more than what he got, but that doesn't make the Jonas decision wrong.

I've been as tough as anybody on TJ but with regard to ^ I was at the game and not that far from the incident.
I have not seen a slow mo of it and probably remember wrongly but Jonas seemed, to make contact with Gaff's shoulder or top of back first. His forearm then deflects upwards into the back of Gaff's neck/head. Clumsy or malicious? The former to me. Brain fart from a fundamentally
fair player. All water under the bridge now.
