Can suck it!
I agree, but from an external perspective, they are going to be an interesting one. Let's see how Ross goes when he builds his own list to his style, rather than inheriting a team and fitting them into his style.

Credit where credit is due though, he's had to reinvent his game style and coaching, which he appears on face value to be doing a reasonable job. When I saw them live against us at AO, I thought it was all over for him, it was chocoball at it's worst. However the players (and he) seem to be picking it up and building on it. They've got to do something about their ruck stocks though. Sandilands isn't going to hold much longer.
What Ross has managed to do since the AO game is get 100% buy in from his players. Sure that is driven by Fyfe, Neale, Mundy and Sandilands but I would have given my left nut if we could have just brought that same intensity around the footy in the Primus years. I feel like some of our efforts in the last two years are atleast in part a legacy of the horrendous rebuild we went through.

And to be honest there aren't too many holes in the Fremantle list. They'd love a hulking key forward (who wouldn't), a speedy half back (maybe Jason Johannisen) and they will need to continue to clear out a few muggles but they also have Harley Bennell and Alex Pearce waiting in the wings. With free agency and a fixture system biased toward struggling teams I'm not sure the Victorian 5 year rebuild model of the early 2000's will be Ross's approach. How he re-shapes the Freo list will be a fascinating case study.

You don't make up that much in percentage at the back end of the season travelling every second week. Their percentage will still be worth a game at seasons end.
That being said if we started our season like they did and ended up at 6-3 I would be very happy

Jimmy Bartel is stating that "non-football" acts such as gut and jumper punches should be assessed just as that and not on the basis of impact and force, as a lot of vicious acts get a financial sanction or no penalty because of that. For example, in most a player will get up after being a bit winded and the MRP cannot say anything other than insufficient force. It would take a gut punch like Cunnington's to Vince yesterday to be viewed as a possible suspension as Vince was off the field for a while. But that is Bartel's point, the fact he was off the field should not change the decision, the act itself should be what draws the penalty.

Opposite to what Bartel wanted Cunnington has got off with a fine and as Bartel stated in the above posted article there was little else that would happen, even though Bernie Vince was off the field for a short while. Grading a jumper or gut punch "medium impact" is always going to be very difficult. However, the latest article states that Gillon McLachlan would be prepared to change the rules to stamp out intentional punches. There would have to be a line drawn between an actual punch and a bit of jumper-pulling and argy-bargy. We do not want to return to the situation that brought up these fines, where Fraser Gehrig was suspended for grabbing his full-backs jumper and pushing him around.

Hartigan resigns for 3 years and all anyone can say is "What about Lever and Mcgovern?"

:D
The way he's played over the last few games I'm not sure I'd re-sign him for three weeks. Watching him recently return to the out-and-out spud that he'd always been until 2016 has been refreshing.

Unleash him on the one at the Port Club. I watched many people try and fail at winning a Ports basketball on the weekend (myself included)

More lucrative than esports imo.

Has anyone else heard the soundbyte of Dennis Commetti commentating and then his son relays half time stats to him and signs off with "dad".

**** me - Dennis could walk out of the commentary box and his son could replace him and you wouldn't know the difference. They sound identical!

I think everyone is too harsh on West Coast. Clearly they are just struggling to cope with the Melbourne smog. They just aren't able to perform as well as the teams that are well conditioned to it.
Like i said before our game against them i would be more confident playing them in Melbourne than Adelaide. Im sure they would jump at the prospect of playing all there away games at Adelaide oval.

So Port, Richmond, Bulldogs, Saints and Essendon are all on 20 pts.

Bombers play Richmond and Saints play Bulldogs so two of these will jump to 24pts at the end of the round.
Which means that if we lose to Geelong, we will drop to 8th spot.

The teams above us all play each other as well, Crows v Freo, Eagles v Giants and us v Cats.
If we beat Geelong, we could go as high as 3rd spot, assuming Freo lose to Crows at AO (likely) and Eagles lose to Giants at Subiaco (less likely)

We need to beat Geelong to make up for that lost game against West Coast and keep in touch with the top 4.
Would be nice just to be in the eight season end . Let alone be in touch with top four. After our last two years I'll accept that.

Well you shouldn't.

Considering how many crap teams there are this year, the fact that it's anyone's game and in all of our losses we seem to have shot ourselves in the foot one way or another and caused the loss in some way shape or form, we all should be expecting a premiership tilt this year.

Making the 8 just isn't enough. We are not the crows.

AFL to change MRP system mid-season to ensure players who punch opponents are punished
THE AFL will tinker with its MRP system in coming weeks to ensure players guilty of punching an opponent face suspension — with changes to be implemented this season.
Tired of seeing players punching opponents and not being appropriately punished, AFL football operations boss Simon Lethlean said the league would take steps in coming days in a bid to rid itself of punching.
Lethlean said changes to the MRP grading table would be worked on in coming days and, unusually, changes would be made mid-season.

I agree, the punches are pussy punches. It's very soft when you know the person can't really retaliate. At least in rugby if someone tries a sly jumper punch, you are well within your rights to try and smack his head off!
