I'm more surprised that Cam O'Shea was only named as an emergency. With Docherty out for the season his intercept marking and run off half-back could be invaluable. He was overtaken here as a half-back but looks to have picked up the pieces and anyway, beggars can't be choosers.
They seem to think they are well stocked across half-back. Weitering, Marchbank, Plowman, Byrne, Mullett, Simpson. Sorry for derailing (hyphen required?) this thread.

Yeah ok, my point was double-barrelled. Either Carlton are taking the piss out of the new emergency settings, or the settings were not necessary (or both).

With the new AFL emergency list size, is it a mandatory requirement that teams name a ruckman as the extra player?
Carlton have done ok in the past with Kreuzer as their main ruckman and KPP's like Casboult chopping out for him when he has a spell.

I doubt it is mandatory, but according to the AFL it is why the emergency list was increased. I was quickly going to place this change in yet another for changes sake, but apparently McKay rucked in JLT2 and is the back-up to Kruezer.

Bit pointless if Frampton is the 4th emergency on Saturday if he plays in the SANFL tomorrow. Surely he aint getting held back from any level of footy every other week.

Good point. Interesting to see how we approach it. This issue really does highlight an advantage of the reserves comp (providing they are curtain raisers I guess, or played day/s after the seniors).

If it was up to me every reserves game would be the day after the AFL game. So that the emergencies that are held back still get a game the day after.

Yes, over the reporting of injuries:

He may get away with it this once, but if he keeps it up he's going to draw attention to himself from the powers that be at West Lakes:

Worse still, he could find himself being 'audited'...

The News Corp papers taking their parochial sides
I guess it's easy to create a fortress when you have 10 of the 18 teams and guaranteed home ground advantage in the championship game each and every year (the last 4 grand finals have seen a lower ranked Victorian team hosting and beating a higher ranked non Victorian team).

Crows fans should consider themselves lucky. One of our players just went missing for an entire off-season.
