I get the point how a camp can help bond a group.
I realise our younger players went to the Rabbitohs together but considering the massive turnover of our squad this year it would have been good to see a whole team camp somewhere, even for a weekend.

Frawley told SEN radio the cancellation — which he said came after a group of players asked the AFL Players Association to intervene — was a sign the players were being allowed to “rule the roost” at the club.

“If I’m Simon Goodwin driving to work today ... I’ve got a real sh**ty feeling in my gut that I just can’t work out, because we’re in it together. But there’s 14 of my boys who have gone behind my back,” Frawley told SEN Breakfast.

Frawley said the camp fiasco was a sign the club was not united.

“The Melbourne Football Club at the moment, it is a bit of a laughing stock,” Frawley said.

“What do we have a leadership group for? Let’s forget our leadership group now. You guys, if you’ve got an issue, ring the AFLPA and I’ll just coach.”

REVEALED: VFL's crazy plan to relocate a Melbourne team to LA in 1988

A RADICAL plan to relocate a Melbourne club to Los Angeles in 1988 is detailed in documents uncovered by the Herald Sun.

The LA Crocodiles would have played home matches at the Rosebowl in Pasadena or the Los Angeles Coliseum.

LA Crocs > Brisbane Bears

Typical headline subbies. It wasn't a VFL proposal, it was a private consortium's proposal that was submitted to the VFL Commission and given short shrift by the commission.

Since when has a "moment" lasted 50 odd years?
And people say Port try to live off past glories. At least we've won a flag this millennium. If Melbourne weren't named Melbourne and had some vicarious association with 'Melbourne (the city) is the centre of the sporting universe', they'd have gone under years ago.

Watching the likes of Melbourne, St. Kilda and prior to their umpire assisted flag the Bulldogs go through cycles of looking like they'll finally take things seriously, only for the in-built cultures of mediocrity to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, has been alternatively been winching at how they be so stupid. And then shaking your head as their fans embrace, what are to the outside observers, decisions that can only set back hard work to inch away from the manacles that are their history.

Haven't they invented the game or something?

Angus Monfries and Paddy Ryder become Essendon life members
Monfries and Ryder, both of whom moved to Port Adelaide after lengthy service with the Bombers, were two of the seven current and former Bombers who received life membership at the club's annual general meeting on Monday night at Moonee Valley.
Monfries was on hand to receive his award, although Ryder, 29, who remains at Port, did not attend.
Both players would have been eligible for Essendon life membership at the conclusion of their time with the Bombers having met the 150-games eligibility criterion, but their awards were delayed during what was a highly uncertain and emotion-charged period.

I see the Tingles were training in santa suits. Good look after the GF debacle.
After the presents they gave the long suffering Tigers army last year I wonder what they have to give this year?

(Not to mention their other gifts of recent times. Dangerfield, Lever, Tippett, Vince, Davis, Gunston et. al. Plus Sloane this year. They really are a generous bunch.

This has to be a Jarman doesn't it, unless they've still got Johnny Reid on the books...
