No one is claiming it's the missing piece to the puzzle. It's a persuasion tool that has the potential to limit how often we lose 50/50 umpiring calls and maybe even win a couple of free kicks where it matters. It could be the difference in a close game. I'd argue that it has been an effective tool for the Scott brothers and Clarkson.

There's also the issue of defending your players in public. It all plays into the mindset of our players, the mindset of the umpires and the mindset of the opposition. In a game where psychology is so critical to success, it beggars belief that we don't actively take every advantage that we possibly can.
To me it beggars belief how some on here think it's so important. I'm pretty sure most if not all coaches would be happy to not attend pressers.

What did he have to say about Gunston getting a free kick and goal after holding his opponent out of a marking contest with a handful of jumper?
I'm surprised that was only replayed once. I remember the Royal Commission headed by BT and Richo when Jay Schulz did it that time.

Under any sort of pressure last night he just bombed blindly. There was nothing new about him at all. Same bloke who dropped a mark and fell over when there was a final to be won. Was he coached to do that? Leopards and spots.

Honestly sometimes I think people see what they want to see to vilify this coaching group from every angle.
So 5 games under Clarko should've fixed 5 years under Ken by now?

Parker cleared, which IMO is the right decision, but the MRP has stated that "Parker was contesting the ball and had no realistic alternative way to contest the ball".

That said, I would argue that, based on AFL Tribunal testimony by the AFL's counsel, Parker did in fact have the option of running away and should therefore have been suspended for at least 1 week.

If Gray played for any other club, there would have been a massive stink kicked up. Nope. Silence.

He arrived with those decision making and disposal skills. You think we didn't try to fix that? The die is cast.

Same as Butcher. Cannot kick for goal and it won't change now.

I like when goal umpires get side on to adjudicate a line ball decision on the goal line and they lean forward intently with their hands behind their backs. Like doing this is going to somehow improve their vision or something.

View attachment 496023 when are they going to call this GWS experiment a fail?

The AFL has completely misread the sporting mentality of the average Sydneysider. They love events. They attend events. A Sydney Swans game is an event but it’s unlikely a GWS game ever will be. It’s why the NRL will always continue to play home and away games at suburban boutique stadiums and the bigger stadiums only sell out for State Of Origin and The Grand Final. It’s not that people in Sydney don’t care about their sport, they just approach it differently than we do. It’s always been like this and always will be. One AFL team in Australia’s largest city is probably enough.

You keep talking about benchmarks like if there were actually a thing with the AFL. What part of chook raffle confuses you?
I have mentioned benchmarks once re chook lotto. I think you are confused.

There is some bullshit argument that 2018 starts fresh and they won't look back. It now meansif you have an appeal you can show a 2018 incident to the appeals panel and say what is the difference between my incident and Parker's or any other incident. You couldn't do that in the past. That is what I mean by benchmark.

It’s also f@#king cold, wet and blowing a gale in Sydney. It’s GWS vs West Coast, so not many would have travelled from the west. Not to mention it’s was a 1345 game and Saturday school sports would still be on.

Just terrible timing by the AFL, but we should know all about that at Port Adelaide.
