Just saw a page on twitter named 1975 SANFL season on delay thought it was quite interesting even though norwood won it that season I think.
Looking through the tweets and realised someone has far too much time on there hands for that stuff so is most likely a retired crers fan.
The research alone would've been a monumental task.

Now imagine if someone did this for all of Port Adelaide's premiership seasons!

I'm keen on the Thursday night game becoming a regular fixture.

It's a good start to the weekend. A footy match is an easy form of entertainment to drop in after work for, stay as long as you like, go out after if you want, head home at a reasonable time, etc. I'd be a lot more likely to attend a Thursday night game than a Sunday twilight. In fact I'd even consider seeing a good game of footy that doesn't involve Port on a Thursday night with a few mates.

Yep, a real bonus for country folk and we're only 300 clicks round trip from the city

THERE'S no official priority draft selection coming Carlton's way at the end of this season.

But that doesn't mean that a high-end compensatory pick won't end up in the Blues' control.

Just as Melbourne conjured national draft pick No.3, which was added to its already established pick No.2, when James Frawley exited as a free agent at the end of 2014, Carlton has the scope to use Marc Murphy as leverage in an attempt to get consecutive early picks, potentially picks one and two, in this year's draft.

While the AFL will tell us there is a formula applied to the compensation granted a club for loss of a free agent, the clubs know the formula is whatever the AFL wants it to be at that given point in time.

Another loop hole for clubs with poor list management to ream the system for a pick they don't deserve. The Concept should just be scrapped and the AFL once again makes up it's own rules to make the competition well make your own minds up. lol

This is a regular argument but ultimately while I feel sorry for people who travel long distances for home games, the benefits of regular prime time nationally televised night games are too enormous to ignore.

Totally agree re a second Friday night game as well. It seems so obvious. Play it as a double header on TV if need be. Surely it's a better option than the current Sunday lunchtime game.

Lots of scheduling issues with 23 Thursday night games and 6 day breaks.

In the US the NFL by law ie the Broadcasting Act aren't allowed to broadcast games on Friday night, that is for high school football, or Saturday as that is for College games, with Saturday night games only allowed in the play offs when College football is supposed to be finished but 1 or 2 bowl games might be left.

So they have 1 Thursday night game, 14 Sunday arvo games and 1 Monday night game. But they dont play a Thursday night game in the final round to allow teams to have a full weeks rest before finals. That makes it easy to draw 2 teams that play on Sunday to play on a Thursday night only once a year.
I think, in general, each game should have more 'breathing space' on the weekly calendar, so I think the best way to do it is by giving 2 teams a bye every week and this reducing the number of games each week to 8.

The season would take about 25 weeks with a full 9 game first round and last round, so about as long as it takes to have the preseason now, and give each team a couple of byes.

1x Thursday night (between a combination of last week's Thursday teams, Friday teams, or those coming off the bye)
1x Friday night (as above but can also have Saturday games)
1x Saturday day 'traditional timeslot in Victoria'
1x Saturday twilight
2x Saturday night (fan favourite / family friendly slot)
2x Sunday day (one in the current 2.30 cst timeslot, the other at 1.30 local).

Would work for most parties I would think.

What is there 23 ish rounds? Every team should get 1 home Friday night game... and at least 1 home Saturday night game.. couple of teams (the big drawing crowd wise) get a bonus friday or saturday. End of story get it done. I have spoken.

Innovative, Anything to get rid of those shitty 12.40 cst time slot. But that means 25 weeks + 1 week finals break + 4 weeks of finals = 30 weeks and 7 months. You will have some ground scheduling issues if you start in first week of March.

Pre finals bye could potentially be scrapped because teams are getting an extra bye midseason, to reduce the total by one week, but ground scheduling is a good point I didn't think of.

Traditionalists would hate it but you could push the end of the finals back a week or two, maybe?

Thursday for everyone else is fine.
I hate them live, such a pain in the arse for a work night.

There is Sunday night slot as well. It is the FTA national game on NBC.

According to Rooch's article - Legend” status be handed to those who “caused the game to change significantly for the better”.
.
What’s the opposite? For a player that made the game worse ie Selwood. Can we indict Selwood into that club.

Isn't that a game from the West Coast so that its still a Sunday arvo game there but night game on the East coast? Or has that changed?
Sunday has three time slots: 1pm ET; 4pm ET; and the SNF (8pm ET, If I'm not mistaken). Those 4pm ET are the 1pm PT games.

not so good for those of us who take kids to the footy
while i will go any night and personally i do like Thursday night games, i'll have to leave my daughter home. Getting home after 11pm on a school night just isnt an option

I like Sunday footy. It's the time slot I most regularly watch. Even better if Port is involved. Never understood the resistance.

Sent from mTalk

Since getting Foxtel there’s nothing I enjoy more than settling in and watching a good Sunday twilight game on tv to finish off the weekend.
