Hayward lined up for his kick after the siren and was on an angle. He appeared to be about to do a run-around goal as he stood side-on. The umpire could clearly be heard to say that he would be called play-on and any score would not stand. Can this be done, after all the umpire is giving an advantage to the team. It is the umpire's responsibility to call frees and police the rules, not instruct players during the game. Earlier, another poster mentioned that this happened during the Port v Geelong match when Jordan Murdoch kicked after the siren.

Maggies, Spurs, Raiders?
Dunno. I love getting on the emulator and playing some old Amiga/early PC games.
No those ones are ok

There's a line somewhere around the N64 era (2000 ish) where the aging of games took a nasty turn

Not to say that it's all bad

Proximity mines in the bathrooms?
Ok you've just changed my mind

Nah the trick is to go in expecting it to be shit and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
What I expect is, that frustration of never finding Dr Doek in the facility.

For someone with an important item to give me he certainly likes to make himself scarce

Of the many things umpires do which anger me, that is not one of them.

Good on the 18 coaches and the coaches association for all deciding to go down the slide for the Big Freeze MND fundraising for Neade Daniher's appeal at Queen's Birthday game. Even Buckley and Goodwin will go down the slide into the ice water before the game. Wonder what Kenny will wear.

Shows how much respect they have for the Reverend. Tim Watson asked him what's happened to him in the last 12 months and he saId his right hand side has become paralysed. Its great to see him in such positive and happy mood talking about his condition and driving his cause to raise enough money to help find a cure.

Hard not to feel good about this footy story.

Why is there no one at the SCG tonight? Is it because Carlton?
Northern crowds are fickle. I hear and read about expansion this and that, but seriously its a hard nut to crack. No one talks aussie rules up hear in brissy without being poked. Ive been up here for 18 years, in that time have worked three different industries, all the same.

Sydney siders are even more fickle, but, in full respect, they have a festival, gallery show, gig, stand up, etc, of international proportions every fortnight. In the ever changing media zeigeist its hard to get a toe hold. But something is better than nothing.

I went to the game (free tickets and I live in Sydney)

A. Sydney pull big games when they are in form, they lost too many early season home game to pull a big crowd.
B. It’s Carlton... enough said
C. Without doubt, the worse game of football I have been to in a very long time.
D. At 1600, it was raining sideways. And it’s bitterly cold for a fickle NSW crowd.

Just poor scheduling by the AFL.

27k for a cold wet FrIday night is a decent crowd in Sydney. Better weather and better opponent and it would have been 35k to 37k. Outside of finals, the best crowds at the SCG are during the day time.

I dont think you in bred south aussies understand, australian rules football is not auctually national. End of story. Small marketplace, expand. Thats what they have done. Shit can everything but its a smart move. Yes, financialy draining, but so were we in a aussie rules state.

Doesn't make it right tho'. People have $ on margins/spreads and even if they didn't it's blurring boundaries.
I didn't see it but hope it's discussed and umpires reined in. They're getting above their station.

I tried to get into the quiz again to check some of the questions but it wouldn't let me. Kept going straight to a score of 2/15 and saying "Elvis has left the building". Ha ha. Yes he has but he's working at a service station in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

I’m sure nobody will care but do the umpires need indigenous kit? They’re almost lost against the ground.
Once again highlighting how far out of whack their importance level is becoming it's a ******* joke... no one cares about you ****heads wearing an indigenous design just **** off and master becoming insignificant that should be the aim.

A great umpire is faceless, nameless & barely exists always remember that

I think esports specifically does imply an addiction. Normal gaming is fine, but esport people do an insane amount of gaming that seems unhealthy to me, and I have the occasional twenty hour LAN game of Empire Earth.

I’m not really sure anyone can have a gaming addiction. Doing it too much is very different from having an addiction. I suppose in rare cases?

Playing or watching esports doesn’t have to be unhealthy either, it depends on the individual but it can definitely be a way to escape from stress or melancholy to an unhealthy degree.

Some activities can be detrimental no matter how in control the person feels or how regimented they are in their routine.

10+ hours of video gaming everyday cannot be healthy.

As opposed to an 8 hour desk job? Couple in the sitting watching Netflix or whatever you'd do after and I don't see how it's drastically different.

It’s better than sitting at a desk twiddling your thumbs for 8 hours plus a day at least haha.

I mean it’s a fair point but if people stay hydrated and take breaks it’s not too bad I think. Not that many gamers regularly have such self control :p
