Why do commentators feel it necessary to always add ‘the...Capital’ whenever they mention Canberra.
Is there anyone in Australia that doesn’t know?

I do wonder how the hell Liam Jones gets selected each week. He is comically bad.

He actually isn't.

Its not so much that they haven't had good assistant coaches, but the guise that just because they were an assistant coach in a flag means they're a Clarkson in waiting is false advertising.

Mark Neeld got handed the keys to Melbourne because he was an assistant coach in the Collingwood 2010 flag.

Its an exponential series of right-time, right-place factors for a coach to come in and transform a club overnight.

Bolton and Fagan have improved their teams though. Brisbane are obviously on the right track and just need consistency whereas Bolton is still dealing with the effects of years of shit drafting and trading.

To be fair it was hailing for 3 hours before the game

But 90,000 members.....

If you’re gonna claim it then prove it!

Also might add, a Brisbane game in Melbourne attracts a fair amount of the old Fitzroy brigade. So that in itself makes that crowd figure today even worse (but nobody will say anything about it - unless it’s Port)

So hang on...

The AFL introduce a 'light and dark' policy on uniforms, making it almost impossible for previously good looking teams like Geelong and North to match their light guernseys with dark shorts, except it is a pretty flexible policy if a couple of big Vic clubs are playing, or it's a final, or especially if it is big vic clubs playing in a final, or a couple of cellar dwellers in Tassie, and then on top of that, the home team changed it's good looking previous combination to adhere to this policy so they didn't have to wear white shorts at home, and now, two 'dark' teams are allowed to wear first choice uniforms playing each other, creating more of a clash, while others still have to wear white shorts for no good reason?

Is that about it, or am I missing something?

Shirts are OK, but it would be better if a team were wearing light shorts and socks, indeed.

No surprise, but both these games ******* suck.

Just thinking it's a wonderful advertisement for sport. Basketball, Rugby ( both codes) Baseball, Ice Hockey, Gridiron. AFL not so much. You want to sell this game overseas we have to do something about lack of depth at the top end.

I just don’t understand why Carlton are so bullish about their future...I guess it’s because the commentators tell them they should be.

Bingo. Nowhere near truly contending for well over a decade and establishing an unpleasant reputation as a development graveyard for young players.
