The AFL is considering changes to the draft age and cutting the number of players and coaches at clubs as part of an overhaul of football departments.

The number of coaches at clubs or the number permitted to work at games on match day could also be cut as part of the changes being discussed.

The option to increase the draft age by six months and to trim the number of players on club lists to a number yet to be determined are among options being canvassed by the AFL as a way of overhauling club lists.

Why?

Who asked for this? How will it make the game better? Why are we expending energy thinking about this? Who is being paid a salary to pitch absolute nothing ideas like this?

Just why?

Gil has lost his bloody mind. This is probably a desperate knee jerk reaction to falling tv ratings and commercial revenue.

IMO they should try reducing rotations from 90 to 40 which should have a positive effect of decreasing congestion.

Are they expecting a significantly smaller TV deal for some reason? When does the current deal expire?

My biggest issue is how insanely VFL the AFL has gone under Gil. Absolutely unacceptable.
The guy is completely detached from the spirit of the game and is far more concerned with brokering a commercial product rooted in political correctness. **** him off already.
