"The AFL is happy to talk to other clubs about the purpose of the trials, what we're looking to do etc, but the vision itself is not something we would give to a competing club of how another club trains," he said.

No argument that vision of how a club trains should be passed on by the AFL. But this is not vision of how a club trains, this is vision of something they were told to do and may affect all teams. And even if it does contain some vision that other clubs should not see, has no-one ever heard of film editing?

The only way I would find this acceptable is if the AFL were trialing different rules to combat congestion and what we end up with is materially different to what Brisbane and Hawthorn trained on.

Just saw that Jeremy Cameron hit again. That "protecting myself" defence which in my opinion is total crap when it's trotted out has even less credence here. Cameron wasn't even going to collide with Andrews, he was leaping to his side and had he kept his arm in wouldn't have contacted him at all. The "happened in a split second" excuse is another used here and that's BS as well. When a situation calls for speedy movement, the human mind and body can act in surprisingly fast ways. It's not like Hollywood where someone running into trouble has to work out what to do before doing it.

The "he was shoved from behind" argument is another one I've heard too - I expect he'll be relying on that in part tonight.

The Crows will probably employ Mark Viska instead.

Past player - yep, probably more 'qualified' than McKay in the Corporation's eyes. Mind you, look closely at the language McKay is using here...

McKay told Fairfax Media the decision was mutual and he was keen to continue his career in a different environment if the right football role was available.

"I have been at Carlton for 11 years as a player and seven years as an administrator," McKay said.

"If I am going to continue myself further in this space I need to experience a different environment."

He's already in lock step with Pykey ;)

PS - if not Birdbrain, maybe he'll step in to #godhatesfages shoes when the great man ascends to the next chunk of his celebrated CV.

Free kick differentials after 13 rounds.

Mic,
I cant pick up any trends here. Is there something obvious? Style of play? Is it possible for one player to be substantially responsible for a differential in some cases? e.g. SPP in his "early days" was responsible for giving away a lot of free kicks. Coaches in the ear of the AFL? Pies seem to be favourite sons perhaps, in this regard.

Looking at the data here I would have to say Port aren't hard done by, but the Tiges should be bleating furiously. In terms of + differentials there are 5 Vic and 3 non-Vic teams, which does not seem too unusual.
I reckon that averages can hide a bit of critical data. It would be real interesting to see if the data for teams is skewed to higher or lower values, but I suspect 13 games is not enough to pick this up.

Tiges are winning games, they wouldn't want to sidetrack things with going on about the frees. As to style of play, I reckon Collingwood's style of play means there will be fewer frees paid against their players as a lot of their passes are to players in space who won't be caught holding the ball or other frees that rely on an opposition player being nearby.
I'm just putting these up for people to draw their own conclusions. The main point I'm making is that the difference between Richmond and Collingwood means 130 frees over the 13 games but they're both doing well so frees may not mean as much as we think.
Even SPP's count of 6-23 is only affecting our differential by about 1.4, not something I would count as substantial. And of course there is what he brings with his actions which lead to a good number of the frees. Not every fend-off or heavy tackle will mean a free.

Just spent a week on the Gold Coast with the kids.

Seriously cannot believe why players would want to leave the winter sunshine and amazing lifestyle to go to the coldness of an Adelaide/Melbourne winter...

McKenna and Eade must be absolute campaigners of the highest order for so many players to leave over the journey.

You must have gotten lucky. Mates that live in GC always complain about how often it rains, way more than the image portrays.

FORMER AFL premiership player Shannon Grant has been sentenced to jail after pleading guilty to assaulting his ex-partner on several occasions.
FORMER AFL star Shannon Grant has been jailed for six months for repeatedly assaulting a woman, including stomping on her bare foot after she got out of a bath at a Victorian resort.
The North Melbourne premiership player, 41, on Tuesday faced Moorabbin Magistrates Court where he admitted assaulting the woman in Melbourne, on a suburban beach and at a Yarra Valley resort.

Only six months ...

Sounds like we'll be up against two teams short of a star. The general consensus on "Access all Areas" seems to be that Jeremy Cameron will get 5 games. Jimmy Bartel says 4 but even that will keep him out of our game. Adam Treloar will be going for surgery and that will keep him out till late August. We play Collingwood on 18 August.
Our record against top 6 teams was mentioned. It was said to be 5 and 1 which must have been the positions the teams were in at the time we played them. Our record against teams who are top 6 at the moment is 3 and 1.

At least there's no bleating about us not beating a top 8 side this year.

Whateley interviewing Peter Gordon first up this morning.
The ongoing dissection of “where has it all gone wrong for the Doggies?” is just stupid. They’re a poor to middling club that got lucky one September and had the umpires in their pocket on the big day. There’s nothing else to dissect.
How about when he said “the children are gone only the adults are left at the table”. Keep potting the blokes who won you your first flag in 50 years. Absolute tosser.

Gibson a predicted out for Crows this weekend with.. you guessed it... hammy tightness
