Suns need a couple of early picks for lynch they have been getting raped. I kind of feel sorry for them. Not Carlton though..they should get nothing.
Don't feel sorry for the Suns, it has been a failed experiment that has been tried many time by many sports in the Gold Coast.

It should be Australia's equivalent of Miami, but it might as well be Anchorage.

Miami is a good analogy, but San Diego might be better. The Chargers are gone; and the Padres struggle.

Nah, players have plenty of power already. Clubs should be able to know early if a player is going to stay or go.
You wouldn't want to be matching Richmonds offer if you are behaving like you own Lynch and he's the lowest form of life for walking out.
Been there 8 years and been made promise after promise by a club that has not delivered. Meanwhile May won't sign and they don't seem too bothered.

Would also be doing his rehabilitation at Punt road.

At some point a club will surely dig their heels in and match an offer on a RFA and make them stay for the contract period....isn’t the whole idea of RFA is that you can do that?

A player might not like it but they can’t do anything about it. The obvious response is for the player to “no show” but I’m assuming they can be fined their salary for not showing up. They’ll show up pretty quickly...

No, RFA is only match the offer. The player can still walk into the draft. Which with 10 Vic sides makes it a fairly hollow threat for Vic players wanting home. There’s always going to be Vic clubs near the bottom of the ladder that’ll jump on them, even if the player has said they want to go to another Vic club.

This is why, although GC is a shit show, I’d rather them in the competition then skew the balance of Vics to non-Vic sides further.

They aren’t the 2nd and 3rd best players, but if I was Drafting for GC I’d be tempted to take the pick 3 compo and grab both the King twins. Get them playing together, built in anti-homesickness and having played together at the highest level a good chance they won’t want to split up to go to different clubs, by bailing out.

I reckon it’s more like Vegas. Relatively young party town with a partially transient population.

The Chargers moving to LA was a huge mistake. Virtually nobody in LA likes them. They play at by far the smallest venue in the NFL: Stubhub Center, LA Galaxy's stadium, which only holds 27k and they don't even sell that out, we're talking Port Adelaide circa 2012 attendance numbers for a f**king NFL team! Not in Adelaide, but Los Angeles. They should've never left San Diego.

And yes, the Padres suck, they're the one team I always forget exists, nice ballpark though.

There must be other old campaigners on here  who were around when regularly the only game on sunday tv was the Brisbane bears playing at Carrara.
What amateur shit shows those games were, usually by half way through the 2nd qtr every lawn mower within a 5 kilometre radius of my place could be heard buzzing away.

Brisbane only became successful after they were allowed to pick over the carcase of Fitzroy, and that combined with the move to the Gabba brought them the ultimate prize on 3 occasions, so Why The F*** Vlad the Impaler decided to create another franchise in an area where many sports had failed in the past never made any sense, particularly given Tassie has been an AFL heartland for eons.

One thing we can be sure of is Gillon will never have the kahunas to admit the AFL got it wrong!

Have both the Kings playing together, becoming free agents together and leaving the club together... not saying it will happen but...

Seriously though. How long do we think the suns will last? I think the AFL will keep them around.
The investment in the ground alone means it will be a lot longer than it should be.
The stadium is useless for anything else as there is already a good rectangular stadium for league. The fact the league team also struggle is all anyone should need to know about Gold Coast sport.

Numbers continue to be a problem for The Footy Show, last night beaten by Seven newcomer The Front Bar both nationally and in Melbourne.

While Seven drew 362,000 for its Mick Molloy-led panel Nine’s Footy Show (including a later NRL edition in Sydney) was 348,000. Comparing Melbourne AFL audiences alone the gap is much bigger with 274,000 for Seven vs 193,000 for Nine. How it can improve on those numbers is anyone’s guess….

im pretty over this 'richmond being good' phase

can we go back to them being shit for the next 35 years please?
Much prefer them than Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon, Geelong, Hawthorn, Sydney and Adelaide.

Unlike the Hawks and Cats recent successful periods, the Tigers haven't benefited from the timing of expansion, they haven't got any priority picks on their list, and they haven't had Stevic gift them finals wins. The Tigers don't have players to dislike, their coach is a former Port premiership player and good guy who has done the hard yards. They haven't had salary cap concessions, they haven't cheated with drugs (rogues Justin Charles and probably the Push-up King aside) and they aren't the Crows.

The only thing I dont like is that they played Geelong and Crows in 'away' finals at the MCG in 2017 - but that isn't their fault.
