When is Adam Simpson going to take some heat I wonder?

Repeatedly struggling to kick competitive scores, let alone winning ones, despite boasting a forward line of Kennedy-Darling-Le Cras?

Give us just one of those bigs and we're a sneaky chance of being 16-1 or 17-0.
The problem is that the the West Coast midfield is the worst in the league. Does not matter if you have Kennedy, Darling and LeCras if the ball does not come down that end with any type of delivery. Priddis is a good in and under player but the rest of the midfield is rubbish. Shuey has not come on like they thought he was going to due to injuries.

Simpson has inherited the mess from Worsfold. It is going to take time. They really need to trade some of their key position players to get some decent midfielders into the team.

We could give them Newton who would walk straight into the Eagles midfield as part of the Lycett deal if it happens.

NUFC, YES.

Again, how much is that down to coaching/instruction (beginning with the Worsfold years where he'd clearly checked out mentally)?

Shuey, Gaff, Masten, Rosa, Hutchings and Priddis aren't world beaters by any stretch, but they're not awful. I look at Brad Ebert's flailing career at Subiaco before his resurgence to first rounder production at a vastly underfunded Port in 2012 and wonder what's going on there.

Raises the interesting scenario of with all the interest in Lycett and Cameron whether a (slightly) more possible option is to target a West Coast KPF for a trade. If Shaw is homesick then a Shaw + Hartlett + 1 st round for Kennedy or Darling + WC 2nd or 3rd round back. WC get a younger KPF, get a midfielder who can get it long to their forward line and a good pick to get another midfielder. We get our second genuine tall forward target. Both sides address areas of biggest need, with WC getting the even up pick / player due to KPP > midfielder in player worth.

Hi guys,

I was wondering what people's thoughts are on Port's current form. I've been mulling it over and I reckon due to a combination of circumstances we should see a revitalised Port come out of the bye.

It would be a lot better if you could have gotten Trengove back into your team, unfortunately his injury is longer then anyone would like at this time of year.

So I put it down to your club being mentally flat as being the major factor, I think the injuries to 2 key defenders also played a part, but from what I've heard and read, it has to be mental fatigue. All clubs go through it, some seem to get by without it affecting their run up the ladder, but since you guys lost key defenders/backup ruckman along with having the 3rd youngest list, the best you could be hoping for was to get over the line anyway possible against Melbourne. Well, you managed to do that and you'll get your much needed break. With the return of Carlile to your defence after the bye, we should see a reinvigorated Port Adelaide returning to the form which saw you top of the ladder in the first half of the year. If this happens you should win enough matches to jump into the top 4 no problems, however, I don't think you guys will make top 2 from your current position, but it might still happen.

Thoughts?

He does rather slide through doesn't he? There's no excitement in watching them, no unexpected wins except perhaps R13. In 2015 he will be fielding a team where he has had full control over delistings, recruitment and development for over a year. I'd imagine if things don't pick up he'll be scanning the Situations Vacant by this time in the season.

West Coast wins in 2014
R1 - Bulldogs
R2 - Melbourne
R3 - St Kilda
R8 - GWS
R13 - Gold Coast
R14 - St Kilda
R17 - Brisbane

Wrong thread. The title may not clearly express it but this is a thread for discussing non-Port teams.
This thread is full of Port references by Port posters. Hardly reasonable to pull this guy up.

And now GC are dying in the arse against Brisbane. For all the whinging by bovine fans that we've had it easy against opponents, we haven't had our top 4 opponents falling over and doing us favours until Fremantle last week. They've teased, but not delivered (Hawks vs GWS etc.).

This is about the 4 or 5th week this year where Adelaide are getting their opponents for spots in the 8 doing them favours. WC conspire to kick themselves out of it last night. And now GC are letting Brisbane spank them.

So tempted to rush down to the TAB and put $50 on the Cows tomorrow as the odds of victory are up.

Hmm, for all the talk of GC having one of the best midfields going around, they have really fallen over. Wonder if it is just the lack of Ablett or if their fitness just isn't up to a whole season still.
