I don't like the night GF idea either.

It wouldn't feel like a real GF. Would probably feel like a NAB Cup final.

I know the AFL like to stuff around with things, but this is one I'd prefer they left as it is for at least the next 100 years.

So, 2017 twilight you can have a slightly more fluid affair than usual. Then depending on your age, 2018 will be filled with a newborn/wife/experience that you need to hold yourself back to remember the game.
Screw that, I have 4 kids already hence the reason I have a massive GF day without them.

Anything that does away with shadows coz shadows don't work on TV(contrast contrast).
Kicking to the Punt Rd end in the second half the sun is a factor for forwards vis a vis
the City End for inside 50 deliveries.
Maybe a first 1/2 in mainly natural light then 2nd 1/2 under lights.
Just thinking out loud. For mine the shadows ARE an issue.

how much do you reckon international broadcasters pay? Id pjt my money on bugger all. The Australian rights holder will be driving this.

You want the media rights to go from $1.253bil for 2012-16 to $1.75bil for 2017-21 then give us a night grand final or we will only bid $1.6bil - is what 7 Fox and co will say to the AFL.
I reckon it would be worth more than 150mil...... its a game that stops the nation..... what's stopping other TV channels trying to buy the GF TV rights for 200mil.

I don't know if it's a bit of a troll but I think it's pretty ridiculous that afl.com has done the article asking which Port player is the most important and are comparing Boak with Ryder. As much as I think Ryder is the type of player we needed to bring into the team, I would have had half a dozen others before him. I'd have Westhoff, Lobbe, Schulz, Trengove, Wingard and even Jonas in my team before Ryder. Maybe time will change that, once I get to see Ryder playing more regularly.

A few years ago, American baseballers decided to strike (for more pay I think). If AFL players ever do the same, how would we footy fanatics survive? The off season is long enough, without an even longer break!!!!

Dont under-sell Ryder, he is well & truly a great player ... I agree though, the article is stupid, simply based on the fact he hasnt played ONE game for us yet!! ... it disrespects the other players in the team you mentioned who battled alongside Boaky through 2015!

23 million Australians - about 14 million in the 5 Capital cities TV zone, GF struggles to rate 3 million viewers on average for the whole coverage. Add a million or two that might be watching in pubs and clubs that aren't factored in and your nation stopping still struggles.

With Ryder you could replace Hoff with another runner or Butcher (/Start divided opinion). And he's more versatile than Lobbe. Trengove could be replaced with Clurey (with Ryder dropping back if required), ditto Schulz with Butcher (and Ryder forward). Wingard is class, but he's one of several smalls. Losing any you wouldn't want to have happen, as we're a better team with them all, but for his versatility Ryder versus Boak is a valid comparison.

I wouldn't listen to a single thing JackFlash has to say. A terrible poster.

Silent Alarm with some clairvoyance in that thread
If anything, PAFC should drop the 'Power' moniker. Call themselves, simply, Port Adelaide FC. Blur the lines between the SANFL and AFL sides, and push that idea of one club.

At the same time, 5-10 years olds are getting into footy, and don't remember the SANFL as a decent competition. Either build up this image of class, history, elusiveness, but don't mention the fact that everyone hated you. Or, just rebrand into the SA Power. Either way, the days of only supporting the SANFL Magpies are slowly dying out.

Isn't that thread a laugh to look back at now with the huge turn around we've had by simply being Port Adelaide, becoming One Club, and having Kochie, KT at the head of it all and Kenny and Boaky instilling Port Adelaide values in the boys and playing a attractive brand of football.
