People sometimes point to Riewoldt not performing well in big games, but that's a load of rubbish IMO. He played a very good game in the drawn GF, but Collingwood mauled them in the midfield in the replay. In 2009 conditions were such that no key forward was going to have a big impact on the game stats wise. He's won them plenty of finals over the stretch as well.

Pavlich seems to be respected more of the two for some reason, I think somebody hit the nail on the head earlier though with this in that it's a lot easier to appreciate a player when you aren't fearful they're going to ruin your sides shot at a flag.
This wasn't his finest moment

I don't really watch a lot of Richmond games. Would Alex rance be an upgrade in our defence?
Most likely, but seeing as the side has been rebuilt around the backline I'm not sure if it's worth messing with out current KPDs. If the club think he's a good fit you might be able to put him at CHB and throw Trengove forward.

I'd rather save the coin to help retain our current list.

Do Kangaroos seriously only have Freo and Geelong twice out of the top 6 teams and then face Hawthorn, Sydney and Port at home..? Wtf. That will make our job even tougher to make top 4.

He's a gun defender, but after the hissyfit he threw last year trying to injure our players I wouldn't take the campaigner for free.

If there is one thing you can rely on, its north not winning a single one of those home games, except for maybe Port as the usual Razor Ray Chamberlain match.

Of all the great things about that clip. I just love the stand and applause from the Richmond fans behind the goals.

Rance is 'tiger tuff' and the fans love it!
One of them has an avatar of that spud Vickery king-hitting Dean Cox from behind. They're a weird bunch. Proud of the strangest things.

I just realised that with how bad Kangaroos play against lower placed sides its probably better they don't play too many good sides. Whoever meets Kangaroos in finals as a top 4 team will be very lucky. This is their record since 2000..

2000: 125pt loss to Essendon.
2000: 10pt win vs the 8th placed Hawks.
2000: 50pt loss vs Melbourne.
2002: 38pt loss to Melbourne
2005: 87pt loss to Port.
2007: 106pt loss to Geelong.
2007: 33pt win vs Hawks.
2007: 87pt loss to Port.
2008: 35pt loss to Sydney.
2012: 96pt loss to West Coast.
2014: 12pt win vs Essendon.
2014: 6pt win vs Geelong.
2014: 71pt loss to Sydney.

4 wins, 9 losses at an average losing margin of 77.2 pts.

It's a false economy.

Sides coming off belting North in a final rarely fare well in their next outing.

See Port (05, 07) and Sydney (14) to name a few - even the seemingly invincible Cats of 2007 almost fell to a plucky young Collingwood side coming off a brutal extra time win at Subiaco after tonking the Roos by 100+.

I did think there was stats that backed that up. I remember reading a bit last year before the gf, thinking swans would be like our 2007 but didn't notice it happened to several other teams. Thanks!

PORT Adelaide captain Travis Boak is endorsing free agency fall from eight to six years, despite his forfeiting the lure of returning to his home in Victoria.

And Boak says great clubs — with strong culture — need not fear free agency.

“I’m okay with free agency going to six years, but no less than that,” Boak said at The AdvertiserFoundation football season launch at Adelaide Oval yesterday.

I loved this part and lold a bit:

As the AFL Players Association prepares to push for earlier free agency during next year’s collective bargaining talks with the AFL, Boak notes players do not leave good clubs.

“If you build a great culture, if you have a great club, free agency is not a problem,” Boak said. “I stayed at Port Adelaide because there was unfinished business. There was so much I had to give back to Port Adelaide — and I still think I have more to give to the club.”
