Former AFL footballer Nick Stevens jailed for eight months fo threatening to kill his partner
Sends a good message, some may argue it's not enough.
i thought he'd get no time, not from my view but from the magistrate. My wife works in DV & said the tide is turning in these cases.
Had a run in with this campaigner at the end of his time with PA down The Grand when he wouldn't leave my now sister in law alone. Shit himself when I turned up and he realised the players with him didn't have his back anymore.

Good to see no matter your status people are treated equally, he should think himself very lucky, this isn't a reflection on any sporting entity IMO, this a reflection of the character of person, I can only hope her spends his time to learn from his failings before another innocent person potentially faces a more severe outcome.

Port star in the initial tweet, Carlton star in the headline, and AFL star in the article itself. Should know better than to expect consistency in journalism - especially from the Advertosser. Not to mention #Gleneg .
or as our illustrious KG would say #Genelg

Agreed, although I do wonder just precisely how the character of sporting stars, who are often feted at a young age, is affected by the trappings that come with their talents.

I know one concern in the UK surrounds kids destined for Premier League with fat junior contracts. These folks need plenty of mentoring and guidance IMO, otherwise there is a real sense they can get away with anything just because of "who they are" and how much money they make. These support mechanisms need to be delivered across mutliple channels - family, friends and the clubs themselves. Some kids will deal with it well, others not so well, so there's no template.

I did try that but they are down on the lower level behind the goal. I prefer higher up around the 50 arc. Also where does the general admission tickets get you into? Thanks.
Usually the upper level is the general admission area so if you prefer to sit there you probably don't need to buy tickets in advance, especially for a game against North Melbourne, who don't have any fans.

NUFC, YES.
Possibly the worst Glenelg coach ever? Although Brenton Honor(less) would be a strong contender...
Tony Symonds.

The prodigal son returns after a wildly successful premiership run with Victor in the GSFL, taking over a side that Choco had gotten into finals the previous two years off the back of Kym Hodgeman presiding over the 1992 Grand Final loss.

7th. 7th. Sacked.

At least Honor can say he inherited a wooden spooner from McLunchcutter and couldn't pull them out of the mire.

But we'll leave the last word to Symonds:

I was thinking the same but was not sure where the general admission ones were for. I might just get them on the night unless I hear of any other suggestions for good viewing there. Cheers

A very in depth analysis on the strength of the fixture for 2015.
http://www.matterofstats.com/mafl-s...2015-afl-draw-schedule-strength-and-imbalance

It's quite long, and I haven't gotten my head around all of it, but something that most Port fans might be interested in is a set of simulations run using the expected 'difficulty rating' for each team (results shown below). Every team has a finish in every ladder position at least once, with the exception of Port who never finish last in the 100000 sets run. However, reading through the analysis this could be due to an overestimation of our home ground advantage.

Either way, if you have the time and inclination for numbers, it's a pretty decent read.

lol richmond.

Good read though interesting we have supremely hard opponents at home and surprisingly easy opponents away. Could work to our advantage if we win those hard ones first up or also be our downfall if we manage to drop a couple easy ones away.

Yeah I read through that, fantastic mathematics. Very impressive really.

Mainly what it presents regarding us is that the chances of s missing the top 8 are very remote, and that in reality we are a very good chance of top 2 let alone top 4. Mainly on the back of a perceived home ground advantage. If that dissipates this year then things change significantly.

Assuming it remains the Portress this year, then Hawks v. Port GF looks on the cards. It'd be interesting to see what effect rating Essendon as spoon material for various lengths of time (as we saw in the NAB the top ups will get destroyed by any side even half decent) would have on it.

Etihad Stadium releases its food prices tomorrow, apparently pies will be $3 (cheapest in aus sporting venues), nothing ground breaking but considering we play nearly a quarter of our season there its helpful for our wallets
