Judd retiring to no surprise.

but guess who they play the week after his announcment, that's right.
Great, just great!!!!!!!!.
If the obviously career-ending injury to Judd didn't inspire them to get over the Crows on the day, I don't think it's gonna have much effect on the game a fortnight later.

Carlton may only have lost by 9 points but the cows should have thrashed them. Three of the reasons Carlton got so close are 1. their kicking for goal, 2. the cows inability to get easy set shots, 3. the cows poor field kicking. Carlton made so many bad choices when they went inside 50 that they should have never got close. If they play like that against us then they have no chance.
Kade Simpson, as was mentioned in the telecast, has a pretty good recent record against the cows. He has done pretty well against us too but not as often.
Marc Murphy's record is pretty much the same against each team.

Sad end to a marvellous career. It seems that Buckley/Hird/Voss are always talked about as the peak elite midfielders of the modern era and Judd easily belongs in that company. Had the pure speed and agility of an elite wingman but with the addition of being the best contested/stoppage midfielder in the game. A combination that's rarely been seen. Would have won the 07 Brownlow in a canter had he not got injured mid year and for him to bounce back and change the way he played the game whilst at Carlton and still be damaging was marvellous. He's my favourite non-Port player ever. Legend.

I think we should think no further than Geelong this week. We SHOULD win, but the Cats are gonna throw everything at us, so we'd better be ready for it. If we can come away with a solid win, it'll be a good preparation for the Carlton game.

Well done to Chris Judd. The word champion gets thrown around a bit too often, but Judd is a true champion of the game, and he deserves every accolade that comes his way.

Yeah, I'd put Judd above Hird/Voss (I have Buckley below them) for his sheer consistency at being unstoppable at his peak for West Coast.

Still think Ablett's quite comfortably better (peak and career), but West Coast Judd had the same level of "he's so far and away the best player in the comp" that Ablett then took the reins from. That gets lost a bit because of his total brainfades (pressure points, gouging, elbows) and his undeserved 15 vote run in the 2010 Brownlow (which isn't his fault!).

Very unfortunate way to end the career of an all time great.

I still rate Judd ahead of Ablett, only just though. I'm probably near alone on that.
I think the problem is Judd has been somewhat hobbled the last few years and people probably remember a lot of that which hides the brilliance of his earlier 2/3rds of his career.

I'd take Judd at his best clearly over Voss/Hird/Buckley, (Buckley second).

Hard to split Judd and Ablett, both champions. But if the imaginary draft was tomorrow and had to pick I would probably pick Ablett with Judd at 2.
My man crush bias on Fyfe will have him picked at 3,but catching the no.1 pick fast :)

Must have been Vossy clearing the path for Black;)
Fair bit of that. Think Ollie and Gray working in tandem. Look at the 2003 GF - Black was the great extractor feeding Brisbane runners. Kane's job on Black in the 2004 was exceptional because he stopped Black not just getting the ball but feeding his team mates.

None of the greats mention have had a GF performance like Black where they played their absolute best performance on GF. Black's GF 2003 was like the Jumbo Prince in 1976. Couldnt play any better than they did that day.

I am biased, but Gavin Wanganeen...
Depends on needs of a side to be honest.

If the need is for a midfielder mainly - Judd
Mid / Forward - Ablett
Defender / Forward / Mid - Wanganeen

If all were 18 today and we could pick 1, then on needs it'd be Judd, as we have good mid / forwards already in Gray and Wingard, but could do with the best inside mid of the lot, and I think Judd was that.

Pretty piss poor form from crows scum Grotto posting the normal anti port shit in the Geelong preview thread on the Geelong board.
Wouldn't expect less from such a crowtard.
F**kwits like GROTTO symbolise why certain supporters should not be admitted into AFL grounds. Make no mistake, GROTTO is on the same level as the alleged offenders - complete and utter scum. Choosing to ignore the deplorable behaviour of Crows fans while singling out the behaviour of Port supporters simply affirms the actions of the Camry supporters who are evicted for misbehaving on a weekly basis. The sooner this insecurity from trolls like GROTTO who are so insecure they feel the need to point out the behaviour of a supporter bases ends, crowds will be less hostile.

The Camry's play Geelong in 4 weeks, I hope GROTTO has the same moral high-grounds to point out to Geelong supporters the perils of attending a Crows home game:rolleyes:
