From yesterday's game, unsure if it's been mentioned here yet!

Water Fat Cat?

I still rate Judd ahead of Ablett, only just though. I'm probably near alone on that.

I think at his absolute peak, he was doing that crazy dominant "holy whoa" take over a quarter and you just couldn't believe what you were seeing more than what Ablett did. Ablett still had that in him though (see first quarter against Adelaide in 2011 with no real experienced help around him).

But overall, his disposal has never been elite like Ablett's has and Ablett also has him covered in ball accumulation and goal kicking. Once injuries hit and his athleticism went down, he definitely changed his game well, but it became obvious his dominance was very much helped by his ability to burst away from packs and no one could come close to grabbing him.

Still an absolutely incredible player though, and looking forward to the tributes and highlights packages that will be put together.

the only so called dirty things I've seen is when he elbowed that guy.

Great player, but did a handful of things the likes of Campbell Brown and Byron Pickett would be crucified for.

By no means a cleanskin.

He went alright tbh.
Past 8. Still good but not legend.

Judd was no cleanskin but he will go down as a great of the game and rightly so, one of the very best players since there has been a fully fledged national competition.

Carlton was a shocking fit for him - a fact also discovered by Pagan and Malthouse, who arrived as legends and left with their reputations all but in tatters.

And like that pair of once-infallible coaches, Judd was largely let down by the people around him. Had he chosen one of his other suitors - Collingwood and Hawthorn among them - he could well have another Norm Smith Medal around his neck, let alone a premiership or two.

It's called incorrect disposal numpty!! you can't drop the ball in a tackle like any more :D

You can if you didn't have prior opportunity to the letter of the law. I'm as shocked as anyone.

And then the player tackling you gets done for holding the man. EAD rules committee.

Of the dual mid fielders medal winners in the 21st century, as much as I dont like the bloke, Goodes is the best player of the 3 of them. Ruck, ruck rover, CHF, FF odd run at CHB makes him the most versatile and dangerous of the 3.

Ablett at the GCS has done some absolutely brilliant stuff but like fellow dual mid fielders medal winner from the 20th century, Robert Harvey, both racked up a lot of meaningless possessions in the back half with the one-two handballs that didnt hurt the oppo.

Who do you classify as a legend then if not someone like Judd?

I'm not answering as people are just picking up the conversation and completely ignoring the post that started it.

Not what he has done in the past 8 years is the answer. 2007/2015 is nowhere near legend status. A lot of the plaudits he gained in the past 8 were partly a hangover from when he was very good and enhanced by his reputation.
Before that then maybe, I never saw him.

Go look up his highlights, even in the last eight years rarely has anyone been at his level.

yes Goodes is/was a legend. This is one of the reasons why I thought Wanganeen was a champion. When he played for us he was a tagger (and one of the best in the competition) a pure midfielder (and one of the best in the competition) a rebounding defender (and one.......) a small forward (and.....). He just didn't get beaten.

Rumor (legend) has it Goodes used to take his old dear to the Brownlow as a cover so that none of his 5 shags at the time would ever find out that they were just one of many... just sayin'

Quit trying to make me like him.

Very sin city.
