Will be interesting to see who else from modern times becomes a legend in the hall of fame. Lockett was obvious. You'd expect guys like Carey, Dunstall, Silvagni, Robert Harvey, Voss, Hird, Buckley to be right up there.

Judd would be considered in time but I wonder if the fact Carlton had no success at all once he moved there will hold against him.

I think it'll be the opposite, if he had of stayed in the west he would be a hall of famer but moving to one of the 'traditional' clubs in Victoria will almost guarantee his spot as a legend.

He made a bloody awful decision going to Carlton. If he had gone to Collingwood or the Hawks he would likely be considered unanimously the greatest player of all time.

He grew up a Melbourne supporter and he could have gone there as they had the draft picks to keep West Coast happy and he was heavily courted by them.

Dick Pratt had a big say in why he went to Carlton. Setting yourself up for life means more to him than a bunch of footy fans opinions of him.

There's a highlights package of Judd on youtube which has every single goal he kicked at the Eagles. Goes for 45 minutes and I once sat through the whole thing! He was a phenomenon early in his career - being the best midfielder and arguably best player in the game at the age of 21 is quite an amazing achievement. To then completely change his game due to the restriction of his injuries and still be an extremely good footballer is also something that he should be remembered for.

In terms of comparisons, I think I'd have Ablett just ahead of both Goodes and Judd. Ablett's consistency is incredible and I don't really accept the criticism of him getting cheap touches when there is so many amazing things he does each game.

I'll spew if Hird makes it. There is a character element to the Hall of Fame and this should exclude him.

Vintage Judd. Destroyed the Lions in one blistering half. Shock and awe...

The day Chris Judd announced himself to the football world

Probably the best half of footy ive seen from a midfielder. That game even saw a 'chris judd' forum created on bigfooty.
As good as it lòoked on TV it still didnt look as good.as it was in real life. He kicked 3 goals right in front of me and the way he cut thru the Brisbane defence was brilliant.

That game at the Gabba in Rd13 and his first half and the QF by Goodes against us at Footy Park and his first half are the best halfs of footy I have ever seen and they were 10 weeks apart. Both were so much better live in the flesh than on the box.

Get ready to throw up, rumour has it Tird and Geoffrey Edelstein are earmarked for future induction

Yeah I feel there is a difference between being a knob that made some bad choices in their personal life , to implementing a plan to systematically inject your players with substances that at best were questionable , to outright cheating , and not being able to later tell what these substances were , and to then act like you're a victim of some witch hunt. Miles apart. As talented as hird was as a player , if he ever gets inducted to the hall of fame it will degrade the meaning of being inducted to the hall of fame.

Didn't Carey glass his girlfriend? That puts him a fair way ahead of your garden variety dickhead in the 'shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame' category IMO.
Did he? Shows how little I pay attention to the media. In that case he can stay out. I tend to think the AFL goes overboard with it's various recognition rounds, but it's be rank hypocrisy to have Women's round and be so public about being such a pro-active organisation around women's involvement in the game and then let him in.

Nah Hird being made a legend will confirm the stupidity of the Legend status in the HoF. Character and integrity are 1 of the 5 criteria to get into the HoF but The wanky Legend status is for individuals that - "have caused the game to change significantly for the better."

Yep, because that makes it all better. Only a dickhead talks to women like that (unless they are into it).

Still wanna shake his agents' hand for the miracle of getting a prime time gig after doing that and being caught with coke in his apartment. That's some quality PR work and ass kissing right there.
