Geelong going to the AFL for financial relief with a half million dollar loss forecast for this season.

They benefit substantially from state and commonwealth government 'incentives' being a marginal seat in both jurisdictions. They can afford to throw crazy money at Dangerfield. And it looks like they can meet Tomahawk's financial demands.

*edit* Oh yeah as Killer Power reminded me, they make at least $750,000 for each home game thanks to their stadium deal built on government largesse.

But they're asking for handouts.

Yeah okay. But clubs don't have much flexibility with their salary caps. The Hawkins/Dangerfield money would still have to be spent on other players if they didn't sign them. The salary floor (what the clubs must pay under the collective bargaining agreement with the AFLPA) is only $500,000 below the salary cap.

Geelong are in strife because members are downgrading from 11 game tickets to 3 game tickets. Pretty understandable if you're a Ford worker looking to cut back on your expenses.

See there is an article on afl.com headlining how Gibbs got the last laugh on Twitter over sammy. Is one player ridiculing another for being dropped on social media really what the AFL is trying to promote?
Especially when jimmies were so obviously rustled at Gibbs' end.
**** off Geelong
Yep. Looking forward to all the articles about moving them to Tasmania because they're unsustainable

They don't have to spend their salary cap. For many years we didn't as we couldn't afford it.

I don't get people saying that Gibbs burnt the Hoon. Isn't it a sure sign you've lost an argument by attacking them personally on a completely unrelated topic?
Two days later?

Hoon is living rent-free inside Gibbs' head. I can't wait to see that mentally weak sniping campaigner fold the next time we play Carlton.
