A very deliberate choice of words. What a FW. Roo will eventually be exposed for the c*cksucker his is
After reading his article in the free Advertiser last night I have decided he is a completely despicable twat.

To paraphrase 'we were ROBBBED of Walsh'. - No Roo, you robbed Prt of him, but that's fine, just don't cry like that.
Another comment that they 'discovered and I epmphasise discovered' PHIL Walsh - no you didn't ******* discover him, he was already a coach with us and WCE.

Great Aftermath!? :drunk:

aftermath /ˈɑ:ftəmaθ/
▶ noun
  1. The consequences or after-effects of a significant unpleasant event: food prices soared in the aftermath of the drought .
  2. Farming new grass growing after mowing or harvest.

Yeah thought that was a bit weird.

IIRC Port went hard for Walsh as our senior coach before Hinkley got the gig and WC upped his $$ to keep him, apparently without either club knowing how good he was.

Like everyone who has stumbled over awkward words during this time, I think Ricciuto deserves the benefit of the doubt, particularly given the immediate tweet prior cheering us on.
As has been pointed out, he's made a number of similar statements this week. Too many coincidence are not a coincidence.

From what I've seen, this has not been the case. A few people seem a bit trigger happy to take the moral high ground over any perceived slight from a club that they have previously hated. Vitriol is the easy way out. Showing a bit of understanding is tougher but appropriate given this unprecedented situation there isn't really a roadmap for how to act.

(As an aside, I was a bit disappointed that the pre-game tribute didn't include any Crows-related pictures of Walshy. Then I reflected on KT's comments that we would be guided by the Crows in terms of paying respect, so I thought it would be fair enough to cut them some slack on this. Well, we all saw the post game. I think everyone involved in this situation just deserves a bit of leeway.)

Are you sure? I had my eyes fixed to the screen for the entire time and didn't see a single one, let alone several. This has been corroborated by other posters. I stand to be corrected. Anyway, the point is it doesn't need to have a big deal made about it. We would have consulted with the Crows about how we were going to do things. Any benefit of the doubt should be given.

Absolute non-issue.

Choice of words isn't great but Roo is a footballer not a poet, the tone of the message is positive and congratulatory and the marketing team probably did come up with it (and he wanted to give them a wrap).

He was probably pretty emotional too.

Definitely. The montage before the game. 2 or 3 pics in the slower slides and another 2 to 3 in the quick slides.

I actually like the idea of a percentage of their wage rather than an arbitrary amount. Because fines like $10,000.00 to someone like Buddy do not mean the same as they do to some kid on one-tenth of his wage
Interesting concept PG. Toby Greene is basically from what have seen, a spoilt little grub. For anyone who has seen this footage of this little penile smoker and his mate laying into a 50+ security guard. Don't know about you, but I am pretty sick and tired of these megalomaniac sports ''stars'' getting away with crap so lightly.

In the very least this guy and others like him need to be made to do community services in places like head injury wards, look at what booze and associated aspects do when things go wrong!

Other teams? There's other teams?
The respect didn't even last a week from Roo to a number of flogs on the Adelaide board starting to show their true colours
Credit to a large portion of Adelaide FC posters recently but you're spot on. No points for guessing who's already spewing the most bile. The burning must come from the ulcer he gives himself hating on Port.

You don't need to be some kind of poet laureate to say the right thing and know that using the word "marketing" when connected with a tribute to someone's passing is disrespectful to the club. Would Roo have talked of Adelaide's marketing if they'd had the Thursday night game. I think not. I don't know whether he is the sharpest tool in the shed but most people know when they've said the wrong thing, especially at emotional times.

Love how some are making excuses for Roo as if he's some sort of three year old who, when typing a tweet (ie he had the time to consider his words and the way they could be interpreted) makes such a crass statement as if we had somehow hijacked his club's suffering with our "marketing".

Could have said "your tribute was first class" or any other iteration of that, but deliberately implied that it wasn't a tribute but a stage managed cash in on a tragedy that saw our club lose a Port Adelaide life member and coach of our club for 11 years. He had been with the Crows for 8 months. Pretty sure our club would never call what we put together "marketing".

Even if it's not what he meant, you just don't say that sort of thing for the connotations it brings up. The new Nigel Smart.

I am pretty sure there was at least one or two. I remember thinking that it was a touch of class to have some photos of Walsh in Crows colours. We could've been petty and only show him in our colours but we didn't. Also mentioned the Adelaide Crows a couple of times prior to the moment of silence.

He is a director of the AFC and a media personality.

Deliberate dig that he'll half-heartedly apologise for and blame on poor choice of words. Just bizarre.
Totally deliberate.

He thinks our marketing gets things like that and NTUA right.

No Roo, you can't buy it, it's not marketing, it's called a soul.

Yes it did and he was also described every time as the coach of the Adelaide Crows.
