I am still dirty about tredrea not winning a brownlow...one season he was as dominant as you can get clearly the best player in the comp.....nek minnit w treadrea total 16 votes.....I mean wtf 16 votes for treadrea ....makes me angry now just thinking about it

Well it's a midfielders award.

NUFC, YES.
Wingard was clear best. Boak and Hartlett both deserved votes before Dangerfield though.
The best part of Dangerfield's game was his overly demonstrative look-at-me coaching of Lewis Johnston at every opportunity, which paid off in spades when LJ burned him like a petrol-soaked s'more to indirectly gift us the game.

Richo (Alan) talking to Joel Selwood. Mmmmh what about?
Might want to take him up on that offer to come have a chat to Ollie and the boys about what it takes to be successful. Say what you want about Selwood, but you can't deny the guy has talent and works hard. Success breeds success.

Well it's a midfielders award.
His season was that good he made midfielders look like **** pure ****

I even remember that season he had a game where his stats were 21 d 18 m 3g 5b and the commentators said at the end of the game it was a below average day for tredrea...so dominant he was...he pissed on every player in the comp that year..

I am dirty ****ing dirty about it still.....makes my blood boil everytime I think of it...everytime I try to explai how good the monaliath was...its this type of **** that stops him from being one of the best players ever to grace our game....

He was hands down at his peak the best chf I have seen and I have seen j brown and carey.... (I maybe biased )

16 votes afl can take their 16 votes and shove it up there...way up there in their ...hey hey hey

That's what I was wondering as Richo had never coached at Geelong. No finbarr I wasn't thinking recruiting him.

Dont want to tip you over the edge, but I think it was 15 votes. Judd won with 30 votes, Chad polled well with 22. ;)

The 12 effective midfielders named in all Oz is who I expect the winner to come from. These are the votes

McVeigh 12, and Mitchell 16- half back
Griffen 14, Selwood 27, Pendlebury 21- centre line
Dangerfied 22, Jack 19 - half forward
Swan 26 Ablett 28 - ruck
Boak 13 Hannebery 21 Watson 17 - interchange

Other mid fielders
Sloane 15
Rockliff 21
Murphy 10
Fyfe 18, Mundy 16, Barlow 14
Stevie Johnson 25
Hodge 15
Swallow 14
Ebert 11
Cotchin 19, Martin 16, Deledio 10
Montagna 16
Josh Kennedy 15
Priddis 13
Liberatore 14

KPP and Ruckman votes
Leuenberger 8, Harry Taylor 10, Roughead 13, Petrie 10, Minson 2 (against Port) bold were All Oz

Cameron 6, Wingard 8, Enright 3, Scott Thompson 4, Michael Johnson 4, Cloke 6, Mackie 1

What a joke, how little votes KPP's get. I celebrate my 20th anniversary of saying this comment after 1993 when Ablett went to FF and 2 others joined him kicking 100 goals in only a 20 game season and they got bugger all votes.

The umpires confirmed what meany of us said that Fyfe and Stevie J were stiff not to make the All Oz side.

Just wondering who would be the best player of the year to not poll a single Brownlow vote?

For us the ones that come into my mind are Schulz with a 50 goal year and Lobbe with his form towards the end of the year.

Can suck it!
Surprised by the number of Hawthorn wins were the opposition team received 3 votes. I was watching at a pub so cant be sure but I'd say it happened about 5 times. Cost Mitchell any chance he had of a place.

Two points from mine:
  1. As an umpire, I hate doing votes after the game. I'd much prefer it if it were up to neutral observers, as most of the time I'm so focussed on the game itself that I don't get time to watch the players.
  2. The Brownlow is the best and fairest (which often gets forgotten). From what I've heard of him, GAJ is a very nice individual, if not a little bit shy. No surprise that he racks up a good amount of votes, and players like Chad Cornes never got too much favour.
Congratulations Gary, you've clearly been the best player in the league for a number of years.
