GREATER Western Sydney forward Cam McCarthy's remains determined to leave the Giants, his manager Colin Young says.

The 20-year-old asked for a trade less than two weeks ago but the Giants rejected the request.

They have since expressed confidence in retaining him and claimed he is happy at the Giants.

However Young told AFL.com.au McCarthy "does not want to represent Greater Western Sydney going forward".

Pretty sure GWS have a problem.
Should they trade?
In this position they should trade to the highest bidder. If GWS don't get what they want then they keep him.

At this stage, GWS could practically name their price for Freo, a first rounder is a certainty and a starting point.
It's said every year, and is being said on other list management threads with other scenarios, <INSERT CLUB NAME HERE>club X</INSERT CLUB NAME> needs to behave as we did with Nick Stevens. IMO any and all of Brisbane, GWS and Gold Coast need to at the very least stop letting contracted players walk out.

So either you repeat games, or you think the first week should be 1v2, 3v4?

Isn't 1v4 giving the top side the best advantage?
No I think the first week is spot on. Highest ranked plays lowest ranked (albeit split into top and bottom 4), and so it should be all the way through the finals series.

FWIW I think last weeks finals should have been Hawthorn v North Melbourne and Sydney v Adelaide but the results make me put up with the actual scenario

And the next three up and comers who get made offers they can't ignore by clubs from their "home" states?

If you're the AFL you'd be directing GWS to refuse trades of contracted players above a certain level (flankers & Hamptons excepted)
