Just like us, when their SANFL team is struggling, the AFL side is struggling too. I think they went too hard early and have hit a flat patch but they can come back (like we did in '14).
There's a lot of myths out there about depth. The truth is that most clubs have a fairly similar quality of raw talent or "depth", their ability to get the job done just happens to be linked to the quality of top end talent at the club and of course coaching/development. I'd say Geelong's young talent is pretty bloody average but they looked like millionaires tonight. Hawthorn's up and coming talent will start to look pretty average soon enough when they lose the security of Hodge, Mitchell, Lewis etc too.

I'm not really talking about depth though, more just the general flatness you see over a few weeks in seasons. I always look to our SANFL team if they play first and if they have a big game with plenty of spark and run then it makes me a lot more confident about the AFL side.

Nah, few little niggles.

Not sure is any opposition club board executive will come out with the ' bout time they got some injuries' troll in rooshitto fashion yet.

Port Magpies, SinCity Swamprats,
Tibia and fibula both broken apparently. Poor guy. Redpath did his ACL too. Luke Beveridge looked completely deflated in his presser.
He would have almost certainly dislocated his talus bone also, and torn some of the ligaments as well. Takes a very long time to get over.

Flat patch? They have won 8 of their past 9 matches, with the loss coming from Geelong at their home deck. I wouldn't mind having a 'flat patch' with that win/loss record

I think the AFL might be hoping for a Port win today. It would mean that 2 teams outside the 8 will have a realistic chance of playing finals with 5 games to go.

We have a handy % advantage over the Saints right now and that could be a deciding factor at the end of the minor round.

Let's just get a win today first. Will be a hard slog with some luck required in this weather

Redpath, Wallace and Murphy out for the season. That's too many good players to be a flag chance. Sad because I enjoy watching them.

So I reckon that leaves 6 in with a chance. I still include the Weagles, they've got the side to beat anyone if they can get their mojo going.

Knew as soon as a coach dropped players back instead of trying to pressure Adelaide's shit midfield that they would prove how shit their disposal is.
Agreed.

Their slingshot is being undone exactly the same way that or was.

Just play one or two sweepers and slow them down and make them find targets in traffic.

The bit I dont get is why it took teams so long to work it out
