As per above, we're talking about if there was a bottom 10 competition formed right now we think we'd be the favs. The draw can throw up some anomalies, and we're saying we believe we're the best out of the 8.
See this is a clear case of a cognitive dissonance between where we are at. If there was a bottom 10 comp right now we are not favourites, we are a very average team.

Who would beat us in a genuine finals type scenario in the bottom 8?

We would be comfortable favourites....unless we played Carlton, but lets face it, if we were to face them in finals we would beat them too. This is why what we have done this season is so ******* annoying.

NB....THIS IS NOT CLAIMING WE ARE A GOOD SIDE....WE CLEARLY AREN'T, but the shittiness of the rest suggests we are outside top eight and not entrenched bottom 8. EDIT...I JUST READ BOTTOM 10...shit :) already typed the post so leaving it there.

Let's imagine the bottom 8 is the top 8.

DONKEY Finals

QF St. Kilda v Collingwood

EF Richmond v Essendon

EF Freo v Brisbane

QF Port v Melbourne

Port would likely play Collingwood or Richmond in a Prelim (in this absurd scenario) both teams we have beaten this year, to set up a Shitty GF against St. Kilda or Melbourne (both teams we have beaten comfortably this year).

St. Kilda would be a good chance to thump us on Etihad at the moment.
How so?

We were recently leading at half time against the team in second place and the week before we beat a team that started the season 9-0.
St. Kilda beat an injury smashed Bulldogs and the week before beat Melbourne.
In the round before THAT we pushed the top side in Hawthorn, whilst St. Kilda struggled to beat Essendon.
The round before THAT St. Kilda LOST to the Gold Coast, whilst we comfortably accounted for Richmond!

The over reaction to losing to a bloody good side in GWS is nuts (not just you Jimmy).

Any of St Kilda, Richmond, Melbourne or Collingwood on their day with full strength teams we could capitulate against.
lol na they wouldn't. While we aren't good enough to win a flag. We're still not that bad. A little luck with injuries/suspension and we'd probably be sitting in the top 8. Our issue isn't that we aren't competitive, it's that we're just an ok team, and not the flag contender we hoped we'd be.

Not quite, unfortunately due to the structure of the competition the table DOES lie.

I there was a bottom 8 comp, we would be favourites (thankfully there isn't).
No we wouldn't, since we sit in the middle ground. We are neither top nor bottom 8, but middle 2.

Yeah it is flawed logic, they pushed Hawks closer than us, beat Geelong, pushed North to the limit before they began to capitulate, and beat Carlton.

Boomer “doesn’t want milestone week all about him”, makes it all about him

http://www.thegreenfieldpost.com.au/sport/afl/opinion-gfp/2016/7/boomer-doesnt-want-milestone-week-all-about-him-makes-it-all-about-him/

Always the ~humble~ star, Boomer can be heard stating in a club produced video commemorating the milestone, ‘to all of those who doubted me, thanks for getting it so wrong… 427 times’. You can just feel the humility oozing out of him.

:D

FIGJAM

Perhaps it's my naivety, growing up with Bucks as a superstar and half of my family being Collingwood supporters, but I don't see why he's got the FIGJAM tag, more so than most professional athletes who work hard to get the most out of themselves. Isn't he more or less the same ultra professional as Tredrea?

Had he come back to Port when we entered the AFL he'd be a god to us

There's a video or an article with/by Ginever talking about how dedicated & driven he was even at the Port Maggies floating around somewhere.. RussellEbertHandball

Probably why he was so keen to get out of the amateur, shitkicker environment that was Carrara.

Yeah I don't really see where the hate for Buckley comes from. He's an intense individual for sure, but I'm not sure he's all that arrogant, clearly demands a lot of others because of his own standards but that's fine in my book.

Not sure what all the fuss is about anyway: Boomer is still 75 games short of matching Craig Bradley's 501 (375 for Carlton/126 for Port Magpies) :).
I thought only 99 for magpies? Wasnt there discussion about not being on a locker?

Nope it is 528 v 482 so he is 46 away for an apples v apples comparison. SANFL numbers are inflated because they include preseason /night series games whereas the WAFL and V/AFL have always recorded them separately. Bradley played 98 for Port the rest are state games and international games. The 27 night series/preseason games take it to 528.
