It was Robbie Young's fault for being rough on the football field.
It wasn't that bad because he didn't say it to his face.

If the penalty is not handed down until next week then he should have to serve an extra week as the games won't start until week 1 of the finals!

By the way, can I just out line the poor nature of the Advertiser.
Yesterday, they ran a story about how the AFL booking Snoop is hypocritical and therefore Rankin should be free to play.
Today, they ran a story about “how to talk to your children about Rankine”.
I’m sorry, the child who is struggling with bullies at school doesn’t get a day off because it’s AFL finals.
The Advertiser and the Adelaide Crows are not helping the situation. This is something I can actually get behind the AFL with. The action, even provoked, is not appropriate in modern society. And like or not, Rankine’s actions are watched by some of the most impressionable children in our society. Yes, he likely regrets it and made a heat-of-the-moment mistake, but man-up and take responsibility. Having the Crows and the Advertiser weasel you out of that responsibility is not manly in modern society.
Said as a father of young impressionable boys.

According to TEN News the Crows are preparing their response to a 'proposed ban'. What the **** is going on? Why is it taking the AFL so long? They have had 3 days to consider the case and the guy is either guilty or he is not guilty.
I did read on MSN that Collingwood had raised an historical incident involving another slur by Rankine. Maybe this is also being investigated? The same report stated that Rakine had been stirred up by 'ex Port player Dan Houston' who kept bringing up the suspension Houston copped after a high bump on Rankine in the last Showdown of 2024. There you go Port are to blame for the whole incident !

So with this farce now set for its fourth day, is anyone at all talking about the final round, where some teams might even have a lot to play for vis-a-vis their finals qualification? The AFL is really on top of its marketing this week

The AFL have an opportunity to do something really funny here and make it 6 weeks.
The AFL have once again monumentally ****ed this up. The whole point in banning players for using racial/homophobic slurs is supposed to be them making a stance that they're not ok.
Except now, all the stories on social media are full of ****wits going on about it "just being naughty words" and he shouldn't get in trouble for it.
The AFL just lets the whole situation get worse because they've allowed the entitled ****wits to drag it out. They should've just slapped him with a 5 week ban immediately on determining if he said it. Let the Crows try and take them to court for punishing someone who made a homophobic slur and see how it goes. It'd probably end with the court throwing out their complaint and recommending that the AFL fire him completely.
