I thought the QLD Govt had said they'd use the Gabba and it wouldn't get a major overhaul.

Great news for Brisbane, the Gabba sucks. Doing it on the site of a golf course is even better, there are too many golf courses and they're a terrible use of land and water.

Personally, I think rebuilding the Gabba would have been a better option, because of the new cross river rail station being built across the road.

But if you know anything about the geographic of Brisbane the Gabba is basically locked in the middle of the southern city suburbia. So, if the Government were to rebuild, all the extra residential land needed to reclaim would have cost the taxpayers millions if not billions more.

The Pros of Vic Park Stadium.

The land is vacant and ready to build.
Buses, rides etc. will no doubt take crowds directly to a drop off zones at the ground itself.
It’s closer to Fort Valley for accommodation, which has a lot more night life options than the city centre itself for pre & post drinks/catering etc.


The cons of Vic Park stadium.

Transport, very little vehicle space available for parking around Vic Park, and closet train station at is at the RNA showgrounds exhibition centre, around a 1km walk away.
Probably around the same distance or a little further than North Tce Adelaide station is to AO.
Patrons driving in from the southern side need to cross the bridges over the Brisbane River which can incur a toll fee pending what direction they are coming from.
When including the GC & Tweed area the population would be double of that if not more than the North side of the Brissy River compared to the South.
