I know him and his family very well .. when I asked what the reason was he said it’s age demographic… Carr is going all out on youth … games he played in he did well so obviously it’s got nothing to do with his ability

To be fair, if there was some other reason that caused the decision to go this way, he probably isn't going to tell you.

Good point, and unfortunately it happens in a lot of workplace industries.

Youth and enthusiasm will generally win out over age and experience majority of the time.

As the saying goes you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

My point is that defensive forwards don't average 2 goals a game. 2 goals a game puts you 11th in the Coleman last year, or 9th in 2024.

15 touches, a goal, almost 3 tackles...these are good numbers for a defensive forward.

People have expectations that are mind boggling unrealistic in relation to this role.

My point was that if he actually nails a lot of those very gettable misses, he actually is a 2 goal a game forward.

Yeah I said before it's nothing to do with his ability. But I don't think the age demographic is the only reason as he wouldn't have been invited in the first place if that was he case. There's a bit more to it than that from what I hear.

My guess is when they say "age demographic" its more that he's not sufficiently better than Zadow to overrule being 6 years older.

They've looked at both and gone, Zadow is almost as good and he's six years younger with more chance at improving.

Similar to Collingwood choosing between Brodie Grundy and Darcy Cameron at the time. Grundy when fit was better, but not sufficiently better to cover the fact that his contract was three times as bit and could also result in losing someone else good.

I'm more of a structural guy and like to plan things out and even if Jaidyn gets picked up and does well which I hope he does, I still think picking up a couple of young guys with talent and without any baggage is more in line with the philosophies of Carr and Port Adelaide and these are the things that have been missing for 13 years. It will take some time but the right way takes time sometimes.
